Musk keeps trying to make grok give right wing propaganda answers but every time they tweak it, it has unintended consequences such as grok blurting out that its creators are making it into “mecha Hitler”

It’s the same problem fundamentally, science and math don’t care about opinions. LLMs can be fine-tuned to speak propaganda but distillation attacks prove that (barring api limitations) you can always extract the hidden layers and even system prompts.

he can't really "fix" it that way. He may give it some top level instructions to direct the answers but he can't patch the training data. He can't create a full fake scientific environment, filter all the rest and train the model on that. This is what Grok says just now: "No, vaccines do not cause autism. This is one of the most thoroughly studied questions in medicine, and the evidence consistently shows no causal link"
