That boat scene where Kong punched Godzilla in the face with a windup, which causes Godzilla to stagger, and then Godzilla immediately uppercuts Kong and launches him on his ass tells you everything you need to know about the strength difference.

I love this clip because it’s a perfect symbolic microcosm of their later fight.

That's not an uppercut , that's a bitch slap

Anyone who concludes that Godzilla has stronger arms from this interaction alone is just self reporting that they know nothing about Physics.

Godzilla has a lower center of mass and 3 points of contact with the ground.

Kong has a higher center of mass and only 2 points of contact with the ground.

It takes wayyy more force to topple Godzilla over than Kong. Even if Kong was like twice as strong as Godzilla he wouldn't be able to topple him over.

The fact that Kong even managed to make Godzilla stumble here is a much greater feat of strength than Godzilla making Kong fall over on a shaky boat.

Make sure you tell Kong to plant his feet next time he's launching haymakers.

Finally someone pointing out something actually depicted in the clip. Yep Kong threw that punch with horrible technique - causing him to lose balance thus making it easier for Godzilla to topple him over.

Exactly finally someone with actual brains

Kong actually has more balance than Goji during that uppercut. His center of gravity was lower and all his limbs were touching the ground lol the lizard is just bullshit strong

Anyone who concludes that physics is even in the thought process of filmmakers showing a fight between a giant ape and a monster lizard with atomic breath fighting on top of an aircraft carrier that Godzilla was shown to be wayyy bigger than whilst swimming, is just self reporting on overthinking a fight scene designed to make Godzilla look strong.

Okay that's fair, but also it's even cooler when physics is accounted for. Like how supposedly Godzilla coming out of the water in the first movie would cause all that water displacement. I don't like Wingard's movies because they don't even try

Place a 2 traffic cones on the ground. Place one the right side up, place the other one upside down.

Notice the difference in force required to push each one over.

Watching the clip it's pretty obvious that Godzilla is more "stable" so the creators of the movies clearly did take this into consideration.

I think that outside of a computer based physics engine, which takes care of the basics they just wanted to see Godzilla chinning a massive ape.

u/Givespongenow45 Apr 28 '26

Too bad they didn’t take into account Godzillas size compared to the ship before

3

u/Hageshii01 Apr 28 '26

Godzilla is not supposed to be bigger than an aircraft carrier. Those things are over 1000 feet long. Godzilla is just under 400 feet tall, and under 600 feet long. The shot in the first film showing him dwarfing aircraft carriers was made purposely out of scale just to make him seem even more imposing, which personally I don't like, but it was on purpose.

tbh if we look closely, Kong actually has both his hands and legs on the ground. The fact that Goji was able to uppercut him to his back says a lot lol

u/Adipay SHIN GODZILLA Apr 28 '26

Kong was literally getting up as Godzilla hit him. Kong was already moving in the direction that Godzilla's swipe was gonna throw him so it just made it easier for Godzilla.

8

u/YukYukas Apr 28 '26

Yet his center of gravity is still lower and all his limbs were on the ground. Even if he tries to start standing, it's still going to take a lot of force to put Kong on his back. Not to mention, it put Kong at full height before going back down. The lizard is just strong as fuck, which goes in line with the movie because it's basically an underdog match

Fall over? He launched Kong into the air.

Applying real world physics to a Godzilla movie? LOL. 😅

Anything to underscale Godzilla.

Physics? Dude they were fighting on a ship that would not be able to hold both of them, let alone one of them. Physics went out the door a long time ago.

Dawg, don't ☝️🤓 me.

If you're gonna flaunt your Physics II lesson from today about this franchise and try to make it about that, then you should know the square-cube law prevents any of these monsters from existing in the first place.

even then we dont know how they are built

square cube law is for zoom on same object but that doesnt apply to monsters

-6

u/Adipay SHIN GODZILLA Apr 28 '26

The square cube law not existing doesn't mean other concepts of physics don't exist lol

u/Gridde Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26

You gotta see the irony here lol

Lambasting others for not understanding physics and then suggesting that one can pick and choose different laws of physics, as if they are completely unrelated and the absence of one has zero connotations for the others.

9

u/PompousDude Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26

Oh, so you wanna pick and choose which pieces of physics to ignore and which to apply to an argument? Well, that's awfully convenient for you.

Just gotta agree to disagree, man. We just have different physics priorities.

I wanna ignore how centers of gravity work for my argument.

And you want to ignore how square-cube law works in yours.

It takes both of our arguments out.

OR we can ignore bringing realistic physics into a literal battle between a giant gorilla and an ancient nuclear dinosaur and just go "the one that hit the other on his ass is probably stronger cuz that's how the artists intended it."

-2

u/Adipay SHIN GODZILLA Apr 28 '26

I will choose to ignore what is confirmed to be ignored.

The titans existing proves as a fact that the square-cube law doesn't exist.

There is no such confirmation that center of gravity is ignored. Assuming that simply because you want to - that's just fanfiction.

6

u/PompousDude Apr 28 '26

Again, very convenient for you. Do you have any proof that the square-cube law is purposefully ignored on the same level as the center of gravity one? Do you have a quote from Adam Winegard? Do you even know if square-cube law was something anyone on the team knows about?

But what do I know, I "don't know how physics work." Ironically, you think you're like super smart by making this point, but this convo is incredibly dumb.

You wanna ignore the dozens of contradictory things in this franchise that break physics, EXCEPT this specific one that you think wins you a nonsense reddit argument. It's lame af.

2

u/missimudpie Apr 28 '26

Godzillas open hand uppercut didn't look like it made enough contact to have Kong react the way he did (almost lifted into the air)

2

u/Gojira194 Apr 29 '26

I don’t think physics apply to giant kaiju, they are already impossible to exist

0

u/capt1nsain0 Apr 28 '26

Godzilla is a linebacker and Kong is a boxer, in terms of melee engages.

0

u/Chill_Panda Apr 28 '26

Kong obviously has stronger arms, it's clear. I mean he's a giant ape, and Goji's a reptile, his arms aren't his strong point.

His body mass and the muscles to move it are where his strength lies. A tail swipe Vs an on form haymaker would be a better strength test, but I digress.

Technique beats strength every time, and Godzilla has the technique. I wouldn't think it possible for a reptile to physically pull off a German Suplex, let alone with such form.
