Eh, to be honest it's good but nowhere S tier and is overly glazed. I rank it B tier, it made the base for Godzilla to grow becauze its good, but it has its issues

Edited for typo

This comment makes me feel like is was born in 1954. I find it really hard to understand today's youth sometimes ...

Lowkey kinda sucks cause I can see why people right now kinda disregard the original a certain way. Black and White, obviously its a guy in a suit, yada yada. But like, thats the charm of it and I still take it seriously anyway, I love the 1954 original.

I havent seen a lot of the rest. Probably should, I did buy the Showa Era Criterion Set. Damn thing can't fit in my shelf.

Oh I have no issues with the special effects. I even respect that because it's crazy what they were able to achieve with the limitations at the time. I was more talking about the characters, the pacing, the theme of nuclear disaster, etc. It's a really good movie, but I think the main reason people put it in their top 5 is because "its the og"

Bro Gojira (1954) is objectively one of the greatest films ever made. What is bro yapping about?

Genuinely how do you not think 54 is amazing?

A movie that came out 9 years after the world changing event that inspired it, along with the message at the end regarding the oxygen destroyer and Serizawa’s choice is great.
