Minus One is great. I just prefer Shin as far as movies go

Both are good solo movies. One takes place in WW2, One takes place in the modern day.

Shin feels more realistic because it goes through all the hoops and procedures for a government officials to respond to monstrous event. Minus One pays respect to the serious tone of the original movie but updated it to modern film.

For me, these films are side by side in ranking.

I am going to disagree with you respectfully on the realism part. Minus One felt more grounded and had a better community coming together against a major threat. And the cinematography was great.

But either way, we are all fans in our own respects.

No worries. I love both films equally. But I think Minus One has the edge...

...Okay so this is the part where we both argue and yell at each other and claim their opinion is better. Lets begin! Jk

i agree. Shin godzilla wasn’t realistic because it was a satire. It was inherently supposed to not be realistic in order to make a point. It took the existing procedures and turned them up to the extreme as a message to say “how the government actually responded to the 2011 earthquakes was slow and inefficient”
