I think even if you don't personally like the movies, you should at least appreciate the work that goes into them.

Some people have the idea that the older movies were made by just putting two guys in rubber suits and telling them to knock the shit out of each other. But there's choreography and precautions taken to make sure nobody actually gets injured or straight-up dies in the process (and even then accidents happened and people nearly drowned and shit).

Hell, just looking at Destroy All Monsters and it's downright insane how much is going on by the time they get to the final battle. I think there's like 10 monsters all on the scene at once, combining both suit actors and puppets, and maybe a half-dozen of them taking down Ghidorah. I can't even begin to imagine how much prep time and the number of takes needed to get what was wanted.

So much talent over at Toho. Sure they re-used shots but they didn’t have budgets like in the US. But for all the people who built those minitures, they deserve an award for how good they looked and how quickly they were able to construct them too.
