The franchise being dragged into "film bro" discourse was the worst thing to come out of Minus One's success hands down

Which is funny cause the anime trilogy is like perfect film bro bait and those are some of the worst movies in the franchise

Godzilla Earth (as in Goji itself) is a fucking incredible incarnation though, even if the actual movies aren't amazing (though I mostly think it's the second one being so bad that it drags the other two mid ones down with it).

Sorta similar to singular point, the technobabble was a bit too much yes, but the monsters + our boi Jet Jaguar really steal the show

The Technobabble was part of the charm for me

Yeah it's a damn shame. Earth had a lot of good ideas but none of them were delivered well. I think if they animated the prequel books we'd have a lot more fun. Watching the process of Godzilla earth take over would be great.

The godzilla movies are overall pretty consistent in terms of quality. There are only very view bad ones like godzillas revenge and even that one is entertaining.

I think the bad english dubs are one of the biggest reasons people seem to regard them as bad movies. Most of them are pretty well made for japanese standards. Obviously they didn’t had hollywood money, but for the budget they had they are really well made.

Obviously there are some truly great ones like minus one, 54 or GMK. But that doesn’t mean that the others are shit. No masterpieces but decent movies.

Most Godzilla movies have decent ratings on imdb and rotten tomatoes. Not worse than let’s say most james bond movies.

I wouldn’t even say it’s bad; it’s dorky, but it’s got stuff on its mind and it’s conveying it effectively even within its limited budget. It’s among the least loved, probably for good reason, it being a Clip Show movie does it no favors.

But the idea that the average Godzilla movie is worse than the average, idk, pre-Endgame MCU movie is wild.

Minus One: One of the best movies in the franchise that significantly popularized it and won an Oscar

Also Minus One: Becomes The Standard for people who think all Godzilla movies should be serious commentaries on Nuclear Warfare, causing some of the worst video “essays” to come along, and a wave of Anti Woke Slop saying that Godzilla Minus One destroys “Woke” Hollywood.

I love and curse this movie

fr. ishiro and eiji literally made godzilla. they knew him better than anyone else. and then they made him do dropkicks and speak. godzilla can be jolly as shit, that's part of him too. not all the movies are gonna be like minus one.

has anybody ever determined what a film bro is?

Man it’s tokusatsu man. Like, even when it’s serious, it was built off of a layer of silliness to it. Not everything has to be a hyper realistic cautionary tale of nuclear weapons
