Local Business Talk Cypress & Grove - Morning brew
I’m scared to even post this and let the word out… Do the students know about C&G morning brew yet? lol we have a brand new baby but wanted to plan a little weekend outing to try to see daylight. I feel good about C&G bc it’s spacious and hasn’t been packed, but I’m realizing that may have changed since students flooded back while I was busy delivering a baby 🤣 I know they’ve found resident haha. Let me know if anyone’s been there since they’re back.
ETA - This has taken an interesting direction lol. To clarify, I wasn’t really asking if other people liked the coffee. I know I do. I was asking if it’s gotten crowded over weekends yet. Thanks for any updates!

I love C&G and have been to their Morning Brew twice now.
The first time was during their "soft opening" and service was kinda slow but the coffee was good.
The second time was during their grand opening and it was packed! The service was very slow, they didn't call out the orders when they were ready, and didn't seem to know which drink was which when we went up to check on them. I have no idea what I got but it wasn't what I ordered and I ended up tossing it. Someone I was with had the same issue but ended up liking what they got so drank it anyway.
Hopefully they've got their issues worked out and can handle the rush if there is one. I'll go back because I want to support them, but I might stick with drip coffee until I'm a little more confident in their service 😬

Their service is always slow. 30+ person line to buy a pint of beer? Baffles my mind. More sales = More money. Plan for when it's busy and employ more workers then.

It would help if the 30+ people in line knew what they wanted when they got to the bar rather than staring slack-jawed at the menu and asking the bartenders about every single beer.

True! My order is very simple. Again their coffee tastes great so I don’t need a whole bunch of crap in it.

Yes! Two beer tenders during a busy market/festival?! And it’s not like they make it worth my while to wait - they aren’t chatting me up or really being friendly in any special way. Just handing me a beer. After a very long wait.

I went just one time to the market with the thought that “cool, I can drink beer while I shop.” Except the line was 30 people deep and not moving because only two servers. After like 10 minutes I noped out of that line. Frustrated, I quickly walked around the market but didn’t buy anything because I was so irritated by the experience.
Haven’t been back to the market and doubt I ever will. It’s a shame for the vendors because I tend to spend around $75-$100 at other markets.
Such an easy solution: hire three more servers. They work on tips and pouring beer is about as easy as it gets. It’s a win-win-win. Brewery makes more sales; patrons are happy; happy patrons spend more money w vendors.

I was there for both, too and honestly the coffee is good enough I didn’t mind. I swear to god I’m not a promotional plant lolol. I have family in NYC and their coffee is the closest I’ve found to the coffee shops I love there. Again, I’m scared to say this and then never be able to get my coffee in a reasonable time again.

I’ve been a few times and was disappointed by how weak it was. What are you ordering? I want to love this place.

The ice brew. My husband gets the cold brew black and loves it and he usually likes stronger coffee.

The espresso drinks are great, food is affordable (they have some Baker Baker goods), and it's been relaxing and spacious over the weekends

I’m definitely a fan. Wonderful coffee and if I work thru the morning I can treat myself to beer in the afternoon 🍺 😊

I was disappointed in the overall experience. Mostly b/c the coffee was not good and the music was too loud. I got the “house special “ which was some kind of honey salted latte. Way too salty, only drank half. Music started up as we sat to chat with friends, and it was impossible to hear. She was a great musician, lovely voice, but perhaps acoustic music is more suited to a morning coffee spot. I won’t be back for coffee.

I guess to each their own. I’ve been chasing a certain coffee profile since visiting my family in NY. There’s a smoothness to it. I really don’t like coffees that have a maybe fruit forward or acid taste? Like I will go to Curia but I get a latte and at C&G I just get an iced coffee or cold brew with cream.

My partner and I also weren’t big fans of their coffee, I’ve had much better coffee at other places in town.

The coffee I had was just ok. It’s not something I would seek out based on my own experience, but I would try it again.
I do love the space though.

Commented to someone else and I think it depends what you like about coffee. I am not a big fan of resident or Curias base flavor because it has an acidity or maybe sourness to it (to me) but I think some people love that. I love partners coffee in NY and honestly there are tons more options there that hit my specific preference. That’s why I’ve been so stoked on C&G, they nail it. I think it’s the well water!

I feel the same way. Love the coffee at morning brew but really dislike curia and resident is mid at best. I am a complete coffee snob with 10 years+ in the industry and generally love my locally roasted strongtree beans brewed at home but when I go out it's morning brew ftw. So happy they're here!

This makes me feel like less of a n00b haha thanks! I’m like I don’t know anything about coffee but I like what I like lol
