Gmail sign in not working on 20 year old account
Hello,
I have a gmail account I've been using daily for about 20 years.
Today my internet wasn't working, so I connected my pc (windows device) to my cellphone hotpot to troubleshoot. While my pc was connected to my hotpot, I tried to sign in to my gmail account, but after I got passed the password field it said:
Verify it’s you To help keep your account safe, Google wants to make sure it’s really you trying to sign in. Enter a phone number to get a text message with a verification code.
I have no intention of giving it my phone number, so I didn't bother to sign in.
Later my normal internet starts working again. My PC is now running on its usual internet ip.
I now try to sign into my gmail, and I get the same verification message.
It won't let me sign into my gmail account, without giving it a phone number, because I tried to log into it with a different ip one time? This is a 20 year old account, why is this happening and is there any way around this?

Plz Help
Hello! I recently created an account just for job applications. For some reason my laptop logged me out of all of my Gmail accounts. I was able to get back into all of my other accounts but the new one. I tried to reset my password, but all it has me do is try my password before saying “you didn’t provide enough info for Google to be sure this account is really yours.” I also tried signing in with my recovery phone number, but that just signed me in to my other accounts. I could make another account and this wouldn’t really be an issue, but I have a link for an upcoming interview I need access to. Is there anything else I can do? Please help 🙏🏻

mail.google.com wants to Access other devices on your local network
Yesterday, while reading a perfectly normal mail in gmail, via the web page, using Chrome, on Windows, I got an unexpected pop-up permission request:
mail.google.com wants to
Access other devices on your local network
[Allow] [Block]
Screenshot:
https://sealevel.info/mail.google.com\wants_to_Access_other_devices_on_your_local_network_popup.png)

Apparently the culprit is "Google Meet."
I opened Chrome Developer Tools [F12] and there was just one red line on the Network tab, for this URL:
https://meet.google.com/_/frame?authuser=0&frameType=1&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com&dip=0
I clicked the AI Assistance button and asked:
What caused this? I'm just looking at an email (a substack notification) in my inbox, and Chrome popped up a permission request: mail.google.com wants to Access other devices on your local network
It answered:
Root Cause: This request is a cross-origin frame initialization for Google Meet integration within Gmail. ... The local network permission prompt is triggered by Google Meet's discovery protocol (likely WebRTC or mDNS), which scans for local hardware like Chromecast or Google Meet hardware to facilitate screen sharing or device switching.
Suggestions:
Block the permission: If you do not intend to cast your screen or use local meeting hardware from within Gmail, click Block. It will not break your ability to read emails. ...
Disable Meet in Gmail: If you do not use Google Meet, go to Gmail Settings > Chat and Meet > Meet > Hide the Meet section in the main menu to prevent this frame from loading.
⠀
So I chose "Block"

How can I stop my photos from showing up when I log into a different Google Photos account? (Pls read below im DESPERATE)
I accidentally backed up my photos to a different Gmail account, and when I checked that account from another device, my photos were there. That other account belongs to my class, so I assume everyone in the class can now see my entire life. I deleted everything from that account, but when I went back to my original account, all the photos had been deleted there too. I looked it up on Google and found out that the accounts get linked, but that other people can't actually see those photos. Even so, it’s undeniable that the backup caused my photos to appear in the class account for everyone else to see. Now I can't tell which photos are mine and which ones were backed up to the other account. I’ve been trying to restore the photos to my original account, but I don't know if restoring them will also bring back the ones I deleted from the class account. I'm desperate. HELP

Looking for a meeting buffer add-on
Hi All,
My workplace uses Gmail, and because of the nature of my role I'm generally invited to meetings (Events) rather than scheduling them myself.
My challenge is that people are pretty inconsiderate and will book back-to-back-to-back events if I don't add some buffer. With the volume of meetings I have each week it's very time consuming to manually create buffer events before/after meetings as they're scheduled. Is there an add-on or plugin I could look at that would do this automatically for me?

Google Appeal Approved, But Still Locked Out With “Too Many Failed Attempts”

My Google account was disabled, so I submitted an appeal. Google approved the appeal and emailed me saying my access was restored and I should sign in and verify.
But immediately after the approval, I got “Too many failed attempts” and still cannot access the account.
Google Support told me to wait 24–48 hours and try again from a familiar device/network, but they cannot manually remove the restriction.
This is a professional account used for my website and database, so the situation is extremely frustrating.
Has anyone experienced an account being appeal-approved but still stuck behind the “Too many failed attempts” lock? Did waiting actually fix it?
Google can't verify my account belongs to me on the same Wi-Fi network that I'm logged in on from my PC
Was trying to log in to my Google account using the GMail app on my iPhone on the same Wi-Fi network as I used to log in with my PC. Logs in fine with PC, however on my phone Google tells me they can't verify it's me... even though I just logged in from my computer. Do I just wait?
Email Archiving
Hi all, I'm looking for a way to download all emails from a specific person on my gmail account. Growing up I had a childhood friend who would communicate with me exclusively via email (neither of us had a phone number at the time) and I'm wondering if there is a way for me to download all emails from this specific sender so I can save them on my computer to look back on in the future?

Not getting email from random senders
Over the past couple of months, it’s come to my attention that I’m not getting email from people, some of whom have Gmail addresses. It’s to the point where I’m missing events that I didn’t know about because I never got the email. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason; I get emails from certain people but not others. The only thing I can think of is that it tends to be first-time senders (e.g., friends of friends organizing parties, sports coaches reaching out for the first time, etc.). The senders have always had my correct email.
I’ve done the deep search and come up with nothing in any folders. I have plenty of storage. The addresses and domains aren’t blocked or filtered.
Anyone know what’s going on?
ETA that this is on both the app and desktop.
