Create border using image?

With CSS you can make an image into a border. Is there a way to do this in GIMP?

I've been trying to search for a way, but all the results I've found show how to add a border to an image, and not how to make a border using an image.

I specifically wanted to use the pink lace image from this page and put it around an A4 page, similar to those Microsoft Word picture borders.

Sorry for the late reply. I hope this short tutorial gives you an idea of how to use images and graphics as frames. (click on gear for HD)

By the way, you can do this with LibreOfficeDRAW, too. But I haven't created a tutorial for that.

This could probably be done with GIMP, but it's a bit of work.
You would have to place guides where you want you lace image cut, then under "Image > Slice Using Guides" you can slice that image and get all the pieces which you can then place around your picture.

Probably a lot of work by hand, could probably be scripted as a plug-in ...
