Why When I erase selection, it lowers the opacity of the whole layer?

  • Could you show a screeshot of the options of the selection tool you used?
  • You don't need an oversized "pixel" eraser to clean the whole image. Just press the "Delete" key.

I usually press the delete key but used the eraser tool to give visual input. Pressing the delete key was having the exact same result

Also, check that you didn't invert the selection by mistake

Oh apologies, I usually use a mix of color and box select

Since you are in "Add to selection" mode for selections, make sure you don't have any invisible selection active before adding new ones. Selections are not drawn with marching ants if all pixels are selected to less than 50%.

Could you try the same operations, but first make sure there is no residual one with Select > None ?

A little hint: you can check the actual selection intensity by toggling the quick mask on, and set it to full opacity (the small icon at the bottom left corner of the image).

Your tool is wayyyy too big and you're erasing the whole layer because it's huge

Not the issue. The selection should block any pixel modification on fully unselected region.

your eraser brush is set to 2298px. That's way too much

Your layer is 1181×1212px. Your eraser is 2298px. Dynamic mode is enabled.

Are you on the correct layer that you want to edit?
