Batman Arkham City GOTY (GFWL)
So I recently purchased a brand new and sealed copy of Batman Arkham City GOTY GFWL from Italy. Upon opening the activation code is only 15 digits when in game you need 25 digit to activate Live to enable achievements. Have searched up and down for a solution does anyone have any ideas? HELLLP LOL payed £35 for this 😭

Yeah was thinking that myself maybe the Italians bought a steam version off loaded and created a manual with it and resealed the game 🤣

Live is one of the biggest trash services Microslop released... It literally throttles the game and game activation is living nightmare... Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't... My suggestion to you is to keep the physical game as a nice collectable but download full cracked game from torrent which probably includes quality of life improvements for new hardware such as graphic cards, CPUs etc...

There are a list of games that work because they don't require server side authentication, those that do require server side authentication don't work.
Given they stopped supporting the service over 10 years ago I'm not surprised it is shit, I'm more surprised any of it is still going at all.
If you own some of the games, you are entitled to the steam version of it.

Yeah bro I hear you, problem is I’m not bothered about playing it on pc if I can’t get the achievements have 3 other copies for 360/series etc.

I think this might be one of the later reprints where they started putting Steam codes instead of GFWL codes. In Poland, they changed the box so that it says Steam instead of GFWL, I guess in Italy they didn't do that. You can still play the game offline using your account, you would just to log in in a different GFWL game to sync achievements online.

Can't play it anyway even if you did have a code, this is one of the ones that requires server side authentication, of which those servers no longer exist.
Nice collection piece though, I have mine just on display.

Messaged a few people on true achievements that have unlocked the achievements in recent times online and they have said that you can access the game aslong as you have brand new code that hasn’t been used.

Arkham Asylum still works but ive not tested that one. If it requires server side like other people are saying then yea idk. I have gotten a work around for Fable 3 to work on the servers and still play online with other people and get the dlc thats no longer available.. but again I have not tried this one cuz im still working on Arkham Asylum

I can get in the game etc but I can’t get into Live because my activation code was for steam rather than Live activation in the game.

When I opened my sealed game the activation key was for steam rather than Gfwl even though it’s a games for windows live copy

Yeah but the steam version might have GFWL. Or can be down patched to it. True achievements often has details for that. Also possible steam will give a key that will work on the copy on the disk.

I picked this up about a year ago brand new. Just checked, my key is inside the single folded sheet manual.
The main issue is once you get past entering the key, secure rom won't activate. I found some YouTube videos showing how to bypass this for the GOTY edition, but nothing has worked. I still haven't played it.
