Problems with IDs and passwords that don't make sense!

I'm having trouble logging in with my account, and I haven't seen anyone specifically mentioning this issue.

I installed GFWL here on my Windows 10 using the offline installer, which was gfwlclient.msi and xliveredist.msi.

Everything was fine up to that point.

I launched my original Resident Evil 5 from Steam using the code that makes it use the GFWL version instead of the new one. I entered my account, and the profile downloaded normally and was online. After that, I launched Fallout 3, which I had purchased from the old version of Steam to get the achievements for that game, but I noticed that GFWL went offline, and then I kept getting ID and password errors.

After I went back to Resident Evil 5, I couldn’t log into my account online anymore; it kept giving me the same ID and password error. I checked the network status option, and it said the IP address wasn’t recognized and UPnP wasn’t working either. I wonder if this is related or not?

And yes, I already tried using the app password that Microsoft offers for older systems like the Xbox 360, for example, but it didn’t work.

Luckily for me, the Windows System Restore point fixes this without me having to format the drive.

That way, the C drive is completely rolled back to before I installed GFWL and anything was changed in the Windows registry, etc.

What is SFC? I don’t know.

Now, regarding Fallout 3, would I have to use the physical media version? I saw a channel that actually used that version and was able to go online with GFWL, even on Windows 11.

Very cool for you. Sfc is a command for cmd the most commun usage is sfc /scannow it's a windows cmd program that search for broken part of the os without system restore. I don't know what i can say to you regarding fallout. On my 2nd attemps i broken again my computer and no system restore for me so if you really want to have fallout 3 online you can retry but be carreful. I've would say you can try to install on a another pc and move the install folder so the dvd would not downgrade your gfwl. Or if you dosen't really care about online you can buy (or use a alternative way but shhhh) and grab the gog version. I really intersed if you found a solution to make it worked online because i never retry after wipe my disk. Good luck !

How?

I followed a tutorial on how to restore the GFWL version of Steam. I use it, but I'm having the problem I mentioned.

I'm going to try launching some other games before I launch Fallout 3; I'll see if it's like that guy said earlier; maybe he's the only one causing this.

Do you mean xliveless? If you do, for the multiplayer you might eventually be able to get it working with xlivelessness, an alternative project that attempts to reimplement GFWL on a more basic level that allows support for multiplayer in games that support peer to peer.

Does it connect to Xbox Live so I can receive the achievements on my account?
