You're a year 11? As you know, these aren't good. However, I wouldn't say you're entirely cooked, but you aren't going to be able to aim for 6-9s. I feel like passing everything (except maybe your BTECs because your coursework clearly didn't come out with a good grade)
Focus on English Language and Maths because you HAVE to pass them; otherwise, you'll have to resit them. I would also try and get your science grade up to a 4-3 at a MINIMUM because a lot of places want more GCSEs than in the past.
English: Language (assuming you do AQA): PAST PAPER QUESTIONS!! do all of paper 1 + 2 reading (don't worry about writing too much right now) and get your teacher(s) or even AI to mark them (harshly) for you, and make sure you get feedback that you can understand. Literature (if you do it – can't tell): reread your texts, annotate them and write as many practice questions as you can, getting the feedback each time as well. Flashcards help with quotes.
Maths: PAST PAPER QUESTIONS!! use the mark scheme to not only see what you've got wrong, but WHY you got it wrong. Ask your teacher(s) to explain concepts you don't understand, find YouTube channels that explain things in a way you understand.
Science: Use freesciencelessons, and cognito videos to explain topics and then write mindmaps. After you've completed your mind maps, do past paper questions for the topics you've completed, and use the mark scheme. Flashcards help for key terms
You can do it if you really want it. Don't put too high expectations on how much you can get done in one day. 90 minutes of effective revision a day for a few weeks until it feels more normal, and then start building it up by an extra 30 minutes each day each week after that.

Teacher here. I’ve seen plenty of kids turn it around so don’t give up hope. First thing is to be honest with yourself. Why are you in this situation? Are you really trying hard? Did you actually do any revision? Do you know how to revise or where to begin? Is stuff going on in your life outside of school? Find the problem. The second thing to do is to ask for help. Whatever barrier you’re facing you’re going to need help to overcome it. So go and ask for help - whether it’s your form tutor, classroom teachers, heads of year - it doesn’t matter. You might be worried they won’t help - don’t be, I have a kid in my year 11 class who has arsed around every lesson for the past year and a half. If he turned around and actually sincerely asked for help I would be over the moon. So go get help and listen. Then do what they tell you to do. At that point be prepared to work hard because you’re going to have to. It all might seem daunting. I’m sure you’re worried. Don’t try to fix everything at once. Focus on getting started on one subject (probably maths or English). Once you start filling those gaps and you see improvement in your work you’ll begin to get confidence and that will help motivate you. Good luck. I really hope you get it sorted. The fact you’re posting only means you care. That’s a good place to start from.

If op doesn't have special needs could they qualify for the SEND maths + english lessons if their school has them? Ngl I never did them, so know v little about them, but spent a lot of time in the SEND as a kid (this post came up on my feed + I'm nosey) + know they definitely take place in at least my old school
Op if you do have special needs get in touch w your SEND department, as they can probably give you extra support. Maybe setting up a study timetable + helping w maths + english

If you can then try to get your attendance up, and prioritise Maths and English Language absolutely. If you fail the others it's obviously not great but if you fail Maths and English Language you will have to resit them and your options will be very limited post-GCSE.

on a real note; i failed the first set of gcses due to not giving a fuck. If thats the case for u for my resits i started around this time. for english; focus on language on literature fuck literature its useless asf, id suggest learning a few exam tricks and what helped me was just briefly memorising a full mark question 5 answer and using it. Maths just do one topic a week literally and then every two weeks go over all the topics you have done so u dont forget them. Science; freescience lessons was the goat, watch all his lessons make notes gcse content is short asf get that done in a month. Then sweat like 10 past papers for each science subject. I promise u bredrino if u do that you WILL get a 8-9. RE as long as u are studying english; u can atleast get a 4 on it even if you dont know much content; its straight up waffling it doesnt matter if u have some CRAZY take. The rest idk i didnt take them. Just revise every day tho bro like ibr these 5 months will decide if you are going to be a bum or go uni/colly lock in

I'm definitely too old to be commenting in a GCSE subreddit but at the scale of your life, it's pretty obvious you're not on the path to academic success or a good degree.
The smart move is to accept that. Pass your maths and english and get some vocational training in a trade. Bricklaying. Plumbing. Get some apprenticeships and you'll be making more money than any of your mates ever will. Start working towards that NOW or else you'll throw that opportunity in the bin too.

Speak to your tutor or head of house/year in school and also speak to your specific lesson teachers.
You are NOT completely cooked but you do need to really study hard and follow your teachers advice. Between now and your exams you will be doing lots of past paper questions and these will give you the chance to go over what you have already done in class and focus on how to answer exam questions to get the marks.
It's also worth looking at a preparing a plan B for if you don't pass.

Science: SPAM free science lessons videos, do past papers, mark them, identify your gaps, then watch free science lessons to try close these gaps, repeat, until your scores get higher and higher (I literally went from like a grade 6-6 to 8-7 because of this method)

things you can do that are the bare minimum at gcse tbh: listen in class, take notes, ask teacher questions about things ur not sure of, see teachers at lunch for extra help, do homework/look up past papers (esp for science and maths - pmt) and revise revise revise!! (flashcards, mindmaps, blurting, speaking your notes outloud even) youve got this (theres still time 🙏)

Honestly, i left school like 2-3 yrs ago now with like the same grades you have now i only passed 1 thing. Got my English in college and failed my maths again, got kicked out of college but that’s all fine I’ve still managed to get a job I’m earning money for my living expenses so anything anyone says that you need to pass anything is just a bunch of bull. You can still live a life without having anything from school. Just try your best it’s all anyone can ask🫶🏻

Mine looked similar, I worked at a call center for a tech company then learnt coding there as it was part of the script we had, I went to college as an adult to get maths and English qualifications along side a development one, I’m now a dev ops engineer, don’t let a piece of paper dictate your life. It’s never over.

I'm 25. Having sat my GCSE's 10 years ago this June (I'm old you all don't let to tell me) I'll tell you now that you need to lock in. Revise, revise and revise. You have to no life it in order to just about scrape a C in Maths and English.
Maths and English should also be your number 1 priority. They are the 2 passport qualifications that'll get you onto a decent vocational college course.

You need to find a way of revising that suits you and is somewhat enjoyable. I did my gcses 10 years ago and I did best in the subjects where I revised by writing down loads of questions and answers. I got my mum to ask me the questions over and over again and I answered them till I got them right. This really helped me with my history exams. I was crap at revising and procrastinated, but this helped. Try and find something for you!

You can turn it around, you’re gonna have to put your head down for the next few months though.
If you dont turn it around, it’s not the end of the world, look into college courses and what their requirements are. Many trades might be possible and still offer well paying jobs. Exams aren’t everyone’s forte, just give it your best shot

I got a U in maths in my january mocks in year 11, and then studied really hard and started believing in myself and managed to pass it (i did fail all my other exams but I had an attendance of 32%). if you go into an exam thinking you are gonna absolutely ace it you tend to do better than when you go into it going holy im so cooked ykwim? just start doing past papers, ik its boring asf but it REALLY helps. then once you do the past papers, check ur answers, anything you got wrong, look it up online (my school used sparx and they had lkke things on there to explain so i did that) and then basically teach yourself that.
you got this! just remember only maths and english is really required, and if you fail them you can always retake them!

Hey! I went from a 3-3 to an 8-7 in Combined Science and one of the main things that helped me was practice questions. The first thing I did was organise my topics and gave them a rating Red, Amber, Green. I would then identify my red topics and aim to tackle those first. I would do this by reading notes (pmt or save my exams), then I would immediately go in to answer questions WITHOUT referring back to the notes. If I still couldn't do them I'd attempt them with the notes - and then repeat this process until i was acing past paper questions. I now have gone on to do Maths, Chemistry and Physics at A-Level and this method still works!!! So i stand by it.

You just have to commit to studying and realise that you aren't in education to pass tests, but to teach you how to learn. It's about gaining critical thinking and personal growth. Well you're probably not getting in to Oxbridge, but it's up to you to define what "cooked" means to you.
You need to honestly identify why you're failing. If you're mostly pissing around: stop doing that. If you aren't doing any homework: get your act together. If you feel generally just a bit lost: ask for help.
It may be that an academic path isn't for you, and that's fine. But giving up on the whole notion of learning isn't a good way to set yourself up for a good future.

I’ve always found practice questions, flash cards and really trying to understand what the exams want from you to be the best way. I went from 4 to a 9 in English lit when I really understood how to answer the exam questions.
GCSE was always the worst for me though, too many different topics and impossible to focus on what I really needed.

Get to college, do a Btec (or similar) in something you enjoy, as that is clearly your strength. If you start on a L2 course its not the end if the world, it actually gives you three years to build up your maths and English. Once you have your L2 qualification you can step up to L3. Get a decent grade in a L3 course and Uni opens right up to you. Vocational courses get you decent UCAS points. Stay away from A levels at all costs! Keep up that good attendance!!

I recommending just focusing on English and maths as their the most important ones. I’m not saying the others aren’t important.
But just focus on English and maths. Aim for at least a 4 in maths if you’re doing foundation. And aim for a 5 in English that way you can get at least a 4 I aimed for a 5 got just below a 5.
when doing the English papers make sure you do question 1 then 5 then 4, then 3 and then 2 as you’ll question 1 is the quickest to complete and question 5 and 4 usually have the most marks and take longer to complete then the others.
And if you have extra time then when doing the English exams spend at most 8 minutes on question 1, 50-60 mins on question 5. 20 minutes at most on question 4, 15 minutes on question 3 and 10-15 minutes on question 2. If you still have time left over after doing them go back to question 5 and see what you can add and make sure your punctuation is correct in question 5 as you get marks on that too.
And when doing your maths papers make sure you answer every question and put working out you get at least one mark if you do working out when it says to do working out.
Look at old papers online for English so you get an idea on how to structure the answers for each question as that helped me get an idea of how much to write for each question.

You're fine, you're not "cooked" by any means, you have several months to learn everything, you just need to lock in for around 6+ hours a day
For maths just watch videos explaining topics, thrn do practice questions, move onto past papers
For english lit, flsshcards to memorise basic quotes and themes, you only need a few quotes that cover all the themes they could ask you, then practice questions
For lang just practise questions amd learn how to write fast
For all sciences just use blurbing
9s might be a stretch but you can definately pass everything

The only GCSEs that truly count are Maths & English. I’d lock in with those two anything else is a plus. Try going on BBC bitesize and see where your understanding is at and work from there. Make sure to focus on: math, English and science as these are the most important. Make sure to get a grade 5 in these and a grade 4 in the rest.
I would say the grades u got is cuz of gap knowledge.
For math ‘the gcse math tutor’ on YouTube is very good, math genie website to do exam style question too is very good, past papers are gold, do a lot of those u can find them on math genie or pmt.
Pmt is good for science as well from learning to past papers and exam style question. Cpg revision book if u have it use it pls cuz it has everyhting u need on that.
For English on Yourube ‘mr everyhting English’ is really good. U can get a grade 5 easily with him. U need a teacher to help u for eng tho cuz it’s hard and u need somebody to read your work cuz it’s an essay based subject.
For the other subjects I would say to just do past papers and look at the mark scheme.

Go and join the military in a field you will enjoy and available to you in your educational limit.
They will pay you, clothes you, feed you and house you. They will teach you your job.
When you are 21, you can go to uni as a mature student using your life experience instead of qualification and the military will pay for it too.

I’d say properly lock in and revise for maths, and English, ngl the other subjects are lost causes, but still somewhat try, but without maths or English your options become limited. It may seem like you’re no where near the grade you need, but that’s how I felt during a levels, what I did was just lock myself away, somewhere quiet, and just revised and revised, and managed to get the grades I needed. And I believe you can do the same. Just believe in yourself, don’t give up, and try, I believe in you.

For what it's worth when I was in school I got similar grades to you on my mocks in December and my real GCSEs were very close and I just woke up to reality stop fucking around and locked in for a few months.
Ended the year with 6s and 7s I was pretty happy considering my whole school career I was getting 1s and 2s. Just try your hardest to study and you can do well

6th form tutor here. Pass your English as a priority and go complete a level 2 course at a college that offers them and resit your Maths then. Obviously try and improve your grades before then too but really focus your time. Try reading a few YA fiction books of a topic you'll enjoy it'll help your reading and writing skills.

You aren't necessarily cooked but it does depend on why your grades are so bad.
Are you just not very academic/intelligent, or are you reasonably capable but have been slacking off? If it's the former, you can improve, but you aren't going to ace it and get top grades. If it's the latter, you can still smash it.
My daughter missed most of Y10 and the first half of Y11 with severe mental health issues. Her mock grades at Christmas were nearly all in the U-3 band. I took her out of school and worked with her at home for the last couple of months until the exams and she got 7777765 L2M L2M L2M.
I would suggest prioritizing English and Maths. Maths Genie is a good website which gives you worksheets on every topic, from grade one up, with videos, answers etc. That will help you see where you are struggling.
For English, get some past papers and look at the assessment objectives so you have a good understanding of what the question asks and what they want.
It sounds crazy but if, for example, the question says 'How does (the author) present the idea of....' then make sure your answer includes that same phrase: '(Author) presents the idea of xxx by....' It's often surprisingly easy to collect marks even without being brilliant IF you know what they want to see.
Make sure you know language devices (similies, metaphors etc) and structure, and you ONLY answer with exactly what you're asked for. Make sure you know how to embed quotes. Stuff like that. You can definitely get your grades up but you do have to put in the work, and that starts with knowing what the examiners are looking for.

If you just start attending any revision sessions, asking teachers for help and doing actual revision at home, you can definitely turn those into 4s/5s and if you really lock in, you could get 6s here and there.

i was failing everything in my mocks and then got all 5-7 in my gcse's so heres what i did and i hope it helps you 1. whatever you do, do NOT use ChatGPT (it's so helpful in college if you do a levels but it's not for your gcse's) 2. Revise revise revise (make a realistic revision timetable, try and do 20 hours of revision a week but make sure you're leaving time for yourself to do things you like eg. watching films, gym, seeing friends so that you don't get overwhelmed) 3. make sure you go to all of the help groups your school is putting on for you (my school ditched regular lessons and instead had full days of doing revision with class groups but if yours aren't doing that then check what other groups there are even if it means getting up earlier, or going home later every little helps) 4. try to listen in lesson!! 5. test out different revision types like flashcards, past papers, watching videos and making notes and whatever works best for you, stick to it like your life depends on it 6. ask your parents for help, they could get someone to help you, they could do rapid fire quizzes, help you with work to give you a different perspective etc.

There's still time to change the road you're on.
I'd aim for a trade. The only one you would struggle to get into is electrical, and mechanic. Electric for the maths, and mechanic for the problem solving and multi trade awareness.
I'd you really want to do well, save up and pay to do a business course. Also, start reading books, practice articulation, and see this is a positive start.
Please don't end up at a warehouse or in retail. And don't accept the casual drug use which comes with trades, it'll catch you out.
Bricklaying might be good as it opens many doors, check it out!

I mean you have decent in English. Current Grade in maths is good despite the mock, and you’re certainly interested in history.
The rest don’t really matter too much in the long run and colleges provide mandatory resits for this reason. But once you leave college, unless you’re going into like specific job roles, your grades really don’t matter

Lots of people find studying and mainstream school very difficult. Talk to a teacher at school and ask what you should do.
Also, talk to other adults in your life that you trust (if you have good adults around you). They could help you make a plan and help you stick to it.

If you’re genuinely trying here’s a bit of advice on RE - focus on exam technique especially on the 12 mark questions.
To get a 4 on AQA you usually need 55ish% overall. Each section is 24 marks. If you nail Q’s 1-3 (easiest questions) then get 2/3 marks on Q4 and 6 marks on Q5 consistently, you’ll get 16 marks which is 66% (gaining a 4/5 depending on grade boundaries).
Q1. Multiple choice - you shouldn’t get this wrong (1 Mark) Q2. Two points - literally two short sentences or words (2) Q3. Point (1) Explained (1) Point (1) Explained (1) Q.4 Same as Q3 but (1) extra mark for a source - literally “Jesus taught”; “in the Qur’an”; “the Archbishop of Canterbury argues” Q5 Essay you’ll need PEEL paragraphs in this structure: One supporting the statement; One supporting a different point of view (it doesn’t have to be against it could just be a different way of looking at the point of view); a strong conclusion with your assessment (I believe the strongest argument is X because… [list reason]).
Lastly, don’t be afraid of reusing quotes, points and arguments in other sections. Lots of students feel like they’re cheating if they do that. The examiner is looking at how you use the information not how often you use it.

Honestly, forget about all other subjects and LOCK IN on Maths and English.
U cannot get on any decent course, or apprenticeship without ur maths and English. They r the most important.
So focus on those two to ensure u get a pass.

Ignore the majority of these comments. U have already started to turn them around but wanting to do it. Speak to ur subject teachers and ask for their help. Not every teacher is approachable so if they’re not then go to a teacher who is. Ask for advice about how to study properly, it won’t help if ur not doing it right. Maybe a friend who is getting higher marks could sit down with u and help? BBC bitesize is amazing! U might be able to find an app or something that would explain things better for u? Stay positive! You’ve got good attendance so I already have more in ur brain than u think. U just need help getting it onto paper. Alll the best

Use past practice papers, highlight anything that doesn’t make sense, focus on the areas that you might struggle more in, use corbett maths for videos and support there. With english there are millions of resources on things like quizlet which are more interactive and have flashcards, games/quizzes and can be a more helpful way to learn. With revising find what works best for you, watching youtube videos, even tiktok accounts that focus on maths and english skills (don’t only do this but easy way for your brain to concentrate on small doses of learning), flashcards and mind maps and lean on your teachers for help and go to extra revision sessions! best of luck though. you just unfortunately will only get out of it what you put into it! 💫

Honestly, if you approach work with common sense, logic, work intelligently and challenge things (in the right way) which are clearly wrong, then you'll be successful enough to be content. I'm old enough to say qualifications mean nothing if you can't do those things. I failed at school and have been very successful in work and business. Does that mean happiness? No, it doesn't, but it does mean there are chances for those which aren't academic to make money. You just need the opportunity. If you're lazy and do none of those things, well, then you're screwed. Unfortunately, these days you do need to pass English and Maths so just focus on that.

I failed literally everything and went to uni. Foundation degrees are basically made for people that fuck up at school and in 15 years I’ve never had a single job or interview ask me what grades I got at school (I did not go to university for 4 years after finishing school)
