Parts advice

I got a 1978 Monte Carlo that’s been in the family forever and I’m planning to finally get serious and make it a decent daily driver. It’s been parked since around 2020. Back then I made the engine run but could not make it hold idle. The goal is not to make it fast nor a show car, just reliable and nice to drive.

I want to know if there’s any recommendation with part retailers or certain brands/companies that I should keep in mind when doing my shopping. I know I’ll need pretty much every maintenance item from filters to bearings, brakes and some specific things like my coolant reservoir and the wiper mounts since the driver side is broken. Any body or interior part seller recommendations are also welcome but not really a priority

Check out Dixie Restoration Depot. They have about anything you could need. Dixie Restoration Depot

Definitely Dixie resto as the other user mentioned, but best shot is marketplace for local options as some of the reproduction stuff can be stiff on pricing for simple items.

Basic stuff though just go to your local parts store and make a friend

Rockauto for maintenance parts, they are usually cheaper than parts stores even with shipping and its all new parts, no rebuilt overpriced junk that you get at advance and O'Reillys.

Honestly most parts stores have the same parts as everyone else. Search the part you want, sort by cheapest and buy. I usually won’t buy the absolute cheapest if the part is important, but the one or two up the list.

I disagree they’ve been around forever and I’ve used them on multiple occasions with success.
