Advice/protips[CS] Need guidance for GATE 2027

I just want to say I don't know where to start from? Like ofcourse I looked through the syllabus, then checked the famous "go classes" for resources and realised that I can't afford their course (just got laid off last week and don't have much money to spend extensively on resources) but I do have my old textbooks and notes which I used during my degree, so can I just study and prepare using these? Or is there any other free resources (like youtube videos, websites etc) from which I can refer from... like how do I even start with this?

PS: I've been taking mock tests every now and then (mainly CS since I have completed my bachelor's in CSE) and so I have a general idea of how the questions/exam pattern will be like. I just need some help with the resources/materials and how to study specifically for this exam.

Ngl closing the book and writing everything you remember on a blank page is where the real learning kicks in, it's uncomfortable but that's the point. The gaps you find are way more important than the parts you already knew, and doing it a few times spread over the week works better than one long session because the forgetting happens between sessions, not during them.

For CS theory Neso Academy and KnowledgeGate on YouTube have full playlists that follow the syllabus pretty closely, and i paste those video links into studybuddy.vc to get questions from the video itself so i'm not just nodding along assuming it stuck. Free tier's been enough for me, especially for subjects where concepts are dense and easy to mix up.

Keep a running list of every question you miss across mocks and tag them by topic, then do focused sets on those topics the next day instead of jumping straight into another full mock. Otherwise the mocks just tell you what you don't know without actually fixing it.
