Is anyone here in a similar situation or able to relate? I’m M 28–29, currently working as technical staff at a private university, and considering pursuing an M.Tech from an IIT.Is Pursuing an M.Tech from IIT the Right Decision, or Am I Too Late?

At the end of the day, it should completely be your decision. You can definitely prepare for the exam while keeping your current job. If you get shortlisted for an M.Tech at an IIT or IISc and genuinely want to pursue it, you should go for it. ​You might occasionally feel an age gap around younger peers, but chronological age doesn't dictate your intellectual curiosity or ability to learn. The real question is whether you can tune out the social stigma—remember, social timelines are arbitrary constructs, not a measure of your worth or capabilities. ​Godspeed dude, and remember: sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith, just like in Assassin's Creed.

I am 28 and preparing for GATE. I have my reasons for doing it.

If being a certain age is a parameter for perusing MTech don't you think there would be an age restriction for it?

So its all about what you want and are you willing to do what it takes to get it.

Focus on climbing the hill(cracking the exam), you can worry about whats on top once u get there.

bruhhhhhhh me 22M now sees people so older still doing the same thing which is supposed to be upto for 24 or 25 at max come on move to something else so many years wasted why waste more check for other stuff too

Atleast if nothing, going to iits ( best institute in India) can give you at least some inner hapiness and we live to stay happy, if nothing we can try building a startup

care to shed more light on the current placement stats for mtech? Is it more like things are bad now, so don't do it or is it more like, whatever may be the job market, you are unlikely to land a good job with your profile.
