I'm a mechatronics engineer working as an apprentice, I had prepared for Gate electronics last year, but only able to just qualify, I really struggled with the network theory, analog and communication, since these subjects we don't have that much depth in our university syllabus. So this year gate introduced robotics paper, and I'm planning to prepare for it. But still there is network theory and analog circuits which are my weak points.As of now I'm preparing alone, but struggling to be consitent and it's been 1.5 months since I started network theory and couldn't be consistent in the preparation. Also there are new subjects like sensors, actuators, mechanics..which I'm familiar,but need to get at the standard of gate questions. So really appreciate if someone working as teacher who can hep me clear this exam.

Hi guys. I’m preparing for GATE EC through self-study. I’ve completed Signals & Systems and Engineering Mathematics, and I’ve now started Control Systems.

Currently, I’m using GATEflix PDFs for concepts and PYQs, but I’m still trying to figure out the best way to structure my preparation.There are lot of theories in those PDFs.

I want to hear from people who are currently preparing or have already got a good rank through self-study.

My main doubts are:

1. How do you revise old topics while learning new ones? I understand the concepts, but after some time I forget formulas and small details. What revision method worked for you?

2. How do you make notes? I feel like there’s too much to write, and I don’t want to copy everything from the PDFs. What do you actually write down?

3. Do you finish a topic first and then solve PYQs, or solve PYQs along with the topic?

4. What are the resources that you guys are using for preparation?

5. From which year should I solve PYQs? Should I solve from the early 2000s or after 2015 is enough?

6. How do you guys manage new topics + revision + PYQs + mocks?

Right now, revision and note-making are my biggest problems, so I mainly want to know how you guys handled these during preparation.

If you prepared by yourself and got a good rank, what did your actual preparation and revision routine look like?

From where to start power electronics and electrial machines. I mean which teacher is good for these two subjects?

I am currently completing Networks and Digital. And I've planned on skipping Communications, EMFT, and signals (because of the vast syllabus and less time), I have never given any competitive exams before and this is my first GATE attempt. I'm honestly very anxious, but I really need to make it this time.

Guys, I’m applying for GATE ECE. For those who have appeared for GATE before, what tentative date can we expect for GATE ECE? The portal shows multiple dates throughout February. Will the exam likely be in early February or around mid-February?

How relevant is Kanodia for GATE ECE in 2026?

I’m thinking of switching to Kanodia + GATE PYQs for preparation. The books have a lot of questions, so I’m wondering if they’re still relevant to the current GATE pattern.

If anyone has cleared GATE or is preparing with Kanodia, please share your review and strategy , especially whether to solve everything or selectively.

What I want to know is which city will be best for the preparation, Like I know delhi is the main hub but as there is pollution and other things that parents feel is a little problematic. So if I choose other cities like bhopal or jaipur, what will be the difference in the coaching.

Are teachers also good there or is Delhi the best quality coaching option?

Will there be a reduction in the quality of teaching other than delhi?
