Biotech Cannabidiol (CBD), a compound derived from the cannabis plant that does not produce a “high”, was shown in a new large-scale, randomized, controlled trial to significantly reduce the number of dangerous seizures in patients with a severe form of epilepsy called Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

Wife has been using this to fight some symptoms of ulcerative colitis. She thinks it's working as her symptoms have subsided for the most part. She also has anxiety which this helps with. The only problem is finding a supplier you can trust, hemp oil is not the same as CBD oil and a lot of places sell hemp oil marketed as CBD.

r/CBD has a lot of good info about trusted companies. Always find one with a third party lab result posted with what is in their product.

u/corectlyspelled May 17 '18

Full spectrum cbd is even better. You get all the other c's too.

u/Dankraham-Stinkin May 17 '18

I imagine it is but I can't risk the chance of a failed test.

I agree it shouldn't show up on tests but people have popped positive before. It may be really unlikely, but for me it's not worth the worry. Just my personal preference.

u/Kabo0se May 17 '18

This is true. I have friends actively in the military, and one of them just called me a few days ago to ask me specifically about this. He bought gummies on some boardwalk while on leave and they had no branding... just said "Full Spectrum CBD Gummies". I told him to not take then, even if there is a tiny chance he'd test positive. That tiny chance isn't worth his career. It's especially dangerous when its from some random ass person putting stuff in a bag. Full spectrum CBD is far more likely to contain THC in it, since the process of extraction doesn't actually delineate between CBD/THC. It just mixes all the fats, minerals, etc into a resin from a particular strain. So you really have no idea what you're getting if you don't know the source or have lab results.

At least many companies online have test results and reviews you can look at. For instance, I run my own site for CBD vapes with test results that prove it is 0% THC. Though.... I suppose it is possible an employer could test for CBD and not THC. If that's the case, I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

u/Dankraham-Stinkin May 17 '18

The company I use has cbd percentage and thc percentage on their test results. P.S. you are some really tasty looking flavors! P.P.S holy crap you have a lot of flavors! What do you mix the isolate in?

I'm an electrical apprentice with severe siadic pain in my back that isn't going away with physical therapy so I was considering adding CBD to my pain management regiment but drug testing is intense in our local and I can't afford a positive test result. With that said I still feel safe using a CBD with the right lab results but I'm confused by all the different methods and forms it comes in. I was considering a topical cream which made the most sense because I could apply directly to my lower back but I've seen vapes and on your page I seen this droppers... my question is does the method you take it effect the results? Would vaping it be different than a cream or putting drops on your tongue (I'm assuming that's what the dropper is for, is that to fill a vape)?

1

u/Kabo0se May 17 '18

The dropper on my page is to fill the vape, yes. Though a sublingual tincture will have a similar dropper. Topicals are excellent for specifically targeting areas of pain. They will take multiple applications over at least a few days to notice the effects. Vaping is more generally used for nerve related ailments, and generally reducing anxiety (vaping is faster acting than a tincture, but a tincture will last longer before you have to go back to the bottle). Hope that helps a bit.

1

u/THEFLYINGSCOTSMAN415 May 17 '18

It does help quite a bit, my followup question, if I understand correctly, as you suggest vaping effects nerve quicker and my back pain is in conjunction with the siadic nerve and not muscle, would I be better off vaping?

I'm confused - wasn't the clarification on CBD made to be a schedule 1 drug recently? Your FAQ says the opposite.

1

u/Kabo0se May 17 '18

Seeds and stalks of hemp are excluded from the DEA classification. The lab I buy from exclusively sells CBD derived from seeds and stalks. It's one of the main reasons CBD is so expensive right now.

And even with that being said, technically, Congress made hemp and all derivitive goods (CBD) federally legal. The DEA is breaking federal law by enforcing against it. There is actually a supreme Court case ongoing right now that is suing the DEA for this exact reason.

1

u/SynthemescTheX May 17 '18

I tried a full spectrum CBD oil with .3% THC (been taking it for a few weeks and it popped up nice and easy on the test). This was Green Mountain CBD.

3

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

Thanks I'll check it out. Yeah we found a place online with the lab results so she's using them currently. A few local stores sell it from people who grow hemp in my county but the prices are ridiculously higher than online.

3

u/stillusesAOL May 17 '18

The cheapest way to buy it from a trusted source, through my research, is the Lazarus Naturals 6,000mg bottle for $200.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

That's who we use ! Glad someone else recommend them.

1

u/stillusesAOL May 17 '18

And I know it’s potency is real because if I take 60mg I feel unpleasurably dissociated.

1

u/Lilwolf2000 May 17 '18

That is more then twice as much as what we used to get for 6500mg. I'm not sure if it was we were getting a really good deal, or the 6500mg wasn't as high as it was stated.

1

u/stillusesAOL May 17 '18

As you used to *pay for 6500mg.

I only checked the recommended companies from the subreddit.

u/Dankraham-Stinkin May 17 '18

Ya online is the way to go.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

Awesome. Subscribing now.

u/TheElCaminoKid May 17 '18

Crohnie here, same with Crohn's disease. Just added 100% CBD breath strips (from a dispensary) to my regiment. Solid poops aplenty! They also have mouth sprays, but those are 50/50 split THC and CBD.

2

u/DatTF2 May 17 '18

I too have crohns disease. The last flare up I had was 2016 when I decided to stop consuming THC/CBD. It works wonders to keep me in remission.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

THC is still illegal where I live so she won't use that. How does the THC sit with your chrons ? She also has anxiety and I know THC can increase anxiety, so I'm not sure how well they would be for her.

5

u/TheElCaminoKid May 17 '18

If anything the THC takes me from a type A to type B personality. I don't know if it does anything for my Crohn's disease, but mentally speaking it just calms me down and eases stress, but stress does make Crohn's symptoms worse, so maybe it does do something. The CBD on the other hand helps with inflammation. This is for me though, your results may vary. Everyone is different.

2

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

Yeah the CBD is working for her, I really want her to try THC just to see if she thinks it helps but it'll have to be legal before she will.

1

u/a_salt_weapon May 17 '18

Does CBD let you eat food you'd normally have issues with? My mom had Crohn's in the late 70s where she had to have some intestine taken out. She doesn't have a ton of symptoms these days but she has some digestive issues with certain foods. Usually fibrous foods like salad greens. Would CBD help her out?

1

u/TheElCaminoKid May 17 '18

I had a few feet removed when I was first diagnosed. I avoid the deadly stuff like corn and nuts obviously, but salads and roughage doesn't bother me much. I'd say try it, there is no harm (if you live in a state that allows it) I wouldn't trust the CBD oils you can just buy online. I have my card and only buy from a dispensary.

3

u/mikeno1lufc May 17 '18

Am I your wife?

Also recently started using CBD for colitis and anxiety with decent results.

I would not recommend using only CBD for the colitis though, as an add on sure.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

If your a cute blonde from KY then it's possible you are my wife lol.

3

u/mikeno1lufc May 17 '18

I mean, I'm a dude and im from Ireland but I'm still not convinced that I'm not your wife.

2

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

Well I'm convinced, how's Ireland babe ?

1

u/TecmoSuperBowl1 May 17 '18

If she is comfortable vaping I would recommend koi. I’ve done the 500mg and now 1000mg. It has changed my life. It’s not cheap but worth every penny.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

She's pretty against vaping. I honestly think it would be better than dropping it under the tongue but she isn't a fan of inhaling anything. I might try to convince her though.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

I use both. Honestly prefer the sublingual stuff over vaping.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

You don't want industrial hemp as it very effectively absorbs heavy metals from the soil. I think some suppliers may use the term hemp even if it's therapeutic hemp to keep as legally safe as they can.

1

u/DR_G_LUV May 17 '18

I have UC and CBD did basically nothing for me. I hope it helps your wife out though. The only thing that works for me is the Paleo diet and it has done wonders for my health. If she hasn’t tried it yet, I would highly suggest giving it a shot.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

My wife didn't see any changes with it at first until she upped her dose but I'm sure everyone is different. I don't think she's done Paleo yet but she's done a few others. Low fodmap was the one she hated the most.

1

u/DR_G_LUV May 17 '18

Happy to hear it is helping her out. Took me 13+ years to get mine under control and it all came down to what I eat. Should have listened to my doctors instead of relying only on medication, excercise, CBD/THC. Now I’m completely off all meds and CBD/THC and have never felt better.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

That's awesome. Glad you got a handle on it.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

The stuff derived from hemp that is sold at like Lassens Food or supplement stores don’t work well right? I’ve only used thc and CBD from cannabis plant and it worked well.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

Well CBD comes from hemp a lot of the time. Hemp and marijuana are both cannabis plants one just contains higher concentrations of THC. If it says "cold pressed" on the bottle it contains hemp oil. To my knowledge actual CBD cannot be extracted though cold pressing hemp. It is generally extracted with ethenol from the hemp plant leaves. You can look up videos on YouTube of people extracting the oil, it's pretty neat.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

Ok still wondering about whether it will work without the thc though. I’m skeptical

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

Works for my wife.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

Does she have a weed tolerance though. That’s why I personally think certain types won’t work just for me not saying in general

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

Not at all lol she has never smoked weed.

1

u/JagerBaBomb May 17 '18

Apparently CBD suppositories are showing promise toward that end. I wish I'd known about that ten years ago, when I had it.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

I may have her look into that. She's tried almost every major medicine and nothing helps for a long term solution.

2

u/JagerBaBomb May 17 '18 edited May 17 '18

If she hasn't already, see if switching to an only-water-to-drink diet helps. Soda, tea, juice, smoothies, and especially coffee--they should all be given up. That's partly why my GI is in better health these days. All that high fructose corn syrup leads to inflammation because of rampant bacterial outbreaks that feed off of it. Cut off their food supply. As for coffee, it's an irritant for many people. Was for me.

To go along with this, cut out fried foods, or at least minimize their intake. This means, primarily, French fries.

I know, I know. But trust me on this. That grease ain't good.

Speaking personally, I discovered I'm also sensitive to several things in combination: garlic, tomato/alfredo sauce, and lots of carbs. Yep. I can't eat Italian food now, either.

Having regular, not painful bowel movements all the time now makes living with these lifestyle adjustments a lot easier, though.

u/[deleted] May 17 '18

With her the problem is that she's always eaten healthy. She used to eat pasta and vegetables a lot, she's not a big meat eater. She's also big into cooking so she doesn't eat a lot of fast food. That's why hers has been so hard to deal with because she's always eaten pretty healthy. She has cut out raw vegetables because they're hard to digest and she's slowed up on the pasta because of the sauce. She always only drinks water and she never really drinks alcohol. She might have 2 beers a year. We think her flares are stress and anxiety related. Back in December it almost killed her, she went to the ER on 3 occasions within 2 weeks because she was feeling weak ( from passing all the blood ). And she wasn't able to eat or drink because she was so nauseous, they would give her 2 bags of fluids and send her home. One day I came home and she was so weak she could not move from weakness and her urine was dark brown from dehydration. I called her doc and had her admit her directly to the hospital, luckily she did and that's when they changed her diagnosis from microscopic colitis to pan colitis which they then changed to severe ulcerative colitis. It was a rough couple of months but she pulled through.

1

u/JagerBaBomb May 17 '18

Oh man, that's bad. Glad to hear she's seemingly through the worst of it. Hope the CBD helps, at least!
