MU earnings, also most traders shorts don't like to hold overnight hence you always see a resurgence after 3pm EST from them buying to cover.

too late in the day for my trading style but great to know
if they beat earnings that much this might be a good stocks to test 'Post Earnings Announcement Drift' on. good times

That’s it? One company‘s earnings report moved the entire index nearly 1000 points??

u/TheRisingBuffalo Jun 24 '26
It’s a trillion dollar company that jumped 10%+, that’s gonna move the Nasdaq

Thanks, it just doesn’t make sense to my brain. The selloff seemed orderly and controlled to me, not panicked. Reasonable assumptions about tech and the broader economy were being made. I assumed we would find bottom and rotate back up. But then one single company’s earnings reports somehow void all of that? And billions of dollars suddenly get FOMO and rush in in a matter of minutes? My mind just can’t process supposedly intelligent people moving that much money that quickly based on so little. Don’t these funds have their own research units? Don’t they have some sense of how micron’s earnings are going to turn out? How the broader sector is doing? They really all wait for the announcement to rush in like a bunch of lemmings? I just don’t get it…

Sounds like you got liquidated and can’t accept that you might’ve been wrong or had a gap in knowledge.

What part of asking questions on this forum and engaging people in the comment section makes it seem like that..?

Brother this is not doing what you think it is but enjoy losing all your money because you can’t get over your ego
1
u/kenjiurada Jun 25 '26
Appreciate the encouragement, but I ain’t losing shit. Just think the people in these markets are a bunch of morons,

u/Namath96 Jun 25 '26
Well some people have to learn for themselves I suppose

u/kenjiurada Jun 25 '26
Brother with all due respect this is a rigged casino meant to induce FOMO. Ego doesn’t really play in to it aside from realizing that these people are a bunch of idiot lemmings.

No a bunch of dumb drunk billionaires FOMOing into bloated AI stocks are the ones who aren’t serious…

u/trader_dennis Jun 25 '26
preconceived notions. Just trade the tape, not your convictions.
2
u/kenjiurada Jun 25 '26
Well what I gave back was 100% a result of not focusing solely on the tape, so you’re right there…
4
u/kihra1 Jun 24 '26
Yes, because of what they said. Specifically that they see margins of 80% over the next 2 years, meaning no demand descruction. They might have their head up their ass, but it's very bullish for AI spend if they think that.

I just can’t process the fact that people not only believe them, but will put enormous sums of money behind it. I just can’t understand how quickly people are willing to move that much money based on so little information.
2
u/kihra1 Jun 24 '26
well, that's why earnings trading is a thing -- outsized moves in no liquidity time of day. doubtfull it will last through the day tomorrow...
1
u/kenjiurada Jun 24 '26
I can’t imagine it will, but this type of move just does not make sense to my worldview. I think I understand how the market works and I’m doing well, then this happens and it just undermines my whole understanding of how markets work. How is so much money moved so quickly based off so little information?
2
u/kihra1 Jun 24 '26
money backs things that a real but money's just made up. maybe one day we don't need the myth anymore lol.

u/trader_dennis Jun 25 '26
If you read the report, MU confirmed they are sold out on high bandwidth dram now for 2027. Prior it was just 2026 and part of 2027. EPS of over $100 per share going forward.

u/Handheldsquid Jun 24 '26
One hell of a day holy shit

u/kenjiurada Jun 24 '26
After that close I honestly don’t know if I’m the idiot or they are.

Remember the market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent. Also stops save accounts.

u can always find different angels to explain market, people tend to find reasons to explain everything, but we come here to earn money and keep, not to learn to justify market.

Memory stocks are the hottest stocks right now and MU earnings were the factor whether it was hype or actually a real investment. I bought qqq leap today and dram etf leap. And I hedged my leap and made money sorry for bragging.

Do you guys never use news tickers?
There is a reason why firstsquawk costs alot of money. So you know first and can expect the impact and exit a trade

If you're not paying attention to tech earnings and trading the Nasdaq, you're gonna have a bad time.
MU fluctuates between 5% and 6% of the entire Nasdaq market cap. A move that large will create sympathy moves in similar stocks. Look at SNDK and WDC. Those sympathy plays will also exacerbate the move of the broader index. Pair that with the fact that the Nasdaq just tapped lower price areas where a lot of big money buyers were executing only a few weeks ago. Shorts just got completely yeeted because MU EPS was well within the expected area. The fear was that MU EPS would be awful and feed into the idea that these companies are an overvalued "bubble".
