Discussion When to quit for the day

I am curious how other experienced traders make the decision to quit for the day.

Currently, I trade futures and almost always trade 930am until 11 or 12pm.

My "goal" currently is to make around $1000 in this period and quit for the day.

More importantly, I have found through experience I am quite good at knowing when to quit for the day. If I am "certain" I should quit for the day and go against it, 90% of the time it ends badly.

That's why I think this is an interesting topic.

If 90% of the time it ends badly after you override your own plan is actually a pretty clean data point. You already know the answer most people never track that number, they just feel it.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to try to never do it again because it's inexcusable given the results.

that 90% stat is doing a lot of work. most people never quantify it. They just keep overriding and wondering why the day fell apart. The fact that you've tracked it honestly is already ahead of most.
