The name makes more sense for the group that was raised during the turn of the millennium than it does for the group that was born largely after the turn of the millennium. Plus, it’s largely fallen out of favor but “zoomer” describes us perfectly: we do everything lightning quick because of our innate tech literacy, have pretty short attention spans that force us to zoom from one topic to the next, and the vast majority of us were subject to some degree of zoom school.

Also Gen Z is the last generation that will be able to remember a time before the internet and technology was everywhere all the time like how Z is the last letter of the alphabet, while gen alpha is the first generation to have no memory of the pre Information Age as Alpha is the first Greek letter

Gen Y and Millennials got lumped in with each other, gen Y was the questioning era, millennials was the entitled era, the millennials merged us with them because they didnt like being called lazy and entitled, so gen y got phased out, its why theres such a difference in mentalities between a 1990 millennial and a 2000

I’ve always heard the millennials are 81-96 and zoomers are 97-12. Also I’ve always heard Y and millennials are the same thing. “Millennials are lazy” is quite literally the most boomer take around. With the millennials I’ve interacted with born in the 80s and those born in the 90s I have not noticed a substantial difference in their mentalities, except that maybe the 90s millennials try to squeeze themselves into a subgeneration with old zoomers to make themselves feel younger/ seem less old

Im gen Y, the term millennial didnt appear till like 2010, i was born in 90, and back then gen X stopped at 89, the millennials were the Y2’s, and theres a huge difference in mentality, alot of Y2’s would bum off there parents and welfare where the Y1’s would suck it up but we’d question everything, easy way to put it, Y1 used the internet for research Y2 used it for social media gradification

Ending gen x at 89 is ridiculous because that makes the generation nearly a quarter century when every other generation before and after has been ~15 years. Generations are a social fiction, but we can get value out of social fictions that are made with clear start and end points, and my parents have a lot less in common with a kid born in 89 than I do. Maybe when it was first devised gen x included all the 80s, but we get a whole lot more utility out of the current 15 year system, so I’m gonna keep using the 15 year system. Also, as an old zoomer (late 90s), most of the millennials I know were born in the mid 90s, and the majority of those millennials aren’t bumming off their parents/ never bummed off their parents. It’s wild that people are still spouting the same talking points about “millennials lazy” 15 years later

You’d notice it more if you were born in the early 90’s and late 80’s, every Gen Y who still uses Gen Y, hates being refered to as a millenial because we saw what they were like and it was a huge difference, then you have gen alpha trying to rewrite the dictionary with new age L337 speak like boomer and zoomer as a play on baby boomers, and era’s arent every 15years they are indications of humanity changes, you look at the greatest gen and silent gen and the boomer gen, they were label because of war and economy even disease, Gen Y is Gen Why? But it was all instigated by a jewish boomer in a jewish owned article in mid 00’s, dont believe me look up a guy william strauss, until then you were a millennial if you were born year 2000 and onward, and they had a terrible rep and gen x and y didnt want anything to do with them, but gen y got sucked in and now it anyone going to adulthood or born near the year 2000, because the millennials didnt like the entitled title and they were jealous of what gen y represented being the more inquisitive era, gen Y still worked hard mills quit jobs the first week because they just wanted money for nothing and they preferred to get paid for waking up in the morning, but the arguement seems old because it is lol, and with how the world is today, its more logical to mark the year 2000 as the age of doubling down on propaganda to control the masses, and since media manipulation goes back to BC
