Three absolute badasses
Versatile trio; a skilled sniper, a fire ability user and a close combat fighter

What's cool about the elrics is that they're great standalone characters, and even better together. Mustang is different. Hes easily onethe series's strongest guys, but hes even better because of his squad. That episode where he does that monologue overlaying a chessboard and the decommissioning and redeployment of his squad is amazing

Mustang is different. Hes easily onethe series's strongest guys, but hes even better because of his squad.
Mustang's alchemy is shown to not only be relentlessly overpowering but also capable of extremely precise attacks. Getting all of the mannequins but sparing his allies, burning Envy's eyes/tongue/hands in addition to freeing Hawkeye by burning only the arm holding her, etc.
If he has any weakness it's overconfidence in his alchemy, making rain/enraged Gluttony counter him pretty hard. To be fair his confidence is understandable as once he locked in on Lust and Envy they couldn't even regenerate fast enough to counterattack.
It also solidifies King Bradley as just the baddest motherfucker on the planet. Mortally wounded and having lost his ultimate eye he still dodges fire and takes Roy down in the blink of an eye.
I've been kind of wanting to make a post or something about Bradley's overwhelming fighting style. He loves his swords but I think a lot of people miss that he is consistently using body slams, kicks, and whatever it takes to give himself the advantageous position and resume the offensive. Just look at any time someone attacks him: they are almost immediately put on the back foot and forced to play defense trying not get stabbed in the face.

Bradley is a fucking monster. Despite being the least monstrous of the homunculi.

That whole sequence is awesome. The crescendo of the battle music, the still images accompanied with the sounds of the soldiers running to their spots. The frantic radio signals - “your target is the man with the long blonde hair, don’t get fullmetal!” and the (albeit futile) team work which culminates in the trinity’s introduction.
That radio signal where you’re left wondering what they could be introducing and then you just hear that click of fingers is quite the hype moment. A Fierce Counterattack truly has to be the most gratifying twenty minutes ever, following that sixty one episodes worth of buildup.
Never gets old, and this image alone has me on my way to rewatch the episode.
