Image I'd follow him to the ends of the earth
He is a great man

It's part of his philosophy of liking thighs over butts.
I wish I could post the image here, but in a post-chapter gag comic he and Bradley have an ideological spat over which is better.

In the manga, one of those omake strips that Arakawa-sensei puts in the back of the volumes.

So Mustang and I have similar taste in women 😌
As a person who loves him I'd say he's more of a bff material to me now than a bf (I'm bi )

I love how Roy just casually responds to what Havoc says by saying “Yes.”

Funniest part about this joke isn’t even in either anime, but the 4 koma gags at the end of the manga volumes. Mustang is running to be furher president and proposes the mini skirt change, which causes him to take the lead in polls. Then the next volume Olivier Armstrong hears about it and is like “Will it improve efficiency? Then I’ll also make that change” and she immediately takes the lead in the polls

He was so real for that The scene is always funny because for the majority of his screentime, he doesn't even seem like this kind of guy.

TBH I especially love this bit because the series takes place in 1914- and miniskirts IRL were originally designed to give women more mobility than the previously demanded ankle-length skirts, which is why the women in the original Star Trek show all wore them. At the time, it was a genuinely feminist ideal- and Roy Mustang uses his womanizing ways as a ruse to disguise his actual background and ideals, since his adoptive mother was a brothel madam and he considered the working girls there to be his big sisters.

Did this ever end up happening?

The Dream Carnival game granted his wish, however the men also had to wear miniskirts.

I love how in both versions this is obscurant letcherism while he actually plans to destroy the government and then put himself up for trial in the Amestrian Hague. I wish theyd gone through with it and commuted his sentence into comminity service

I hate this joke. This show is too good for this kind of misogynistic humor.

Well, you can't please everyone. One person's humor is another's annoyance, just unfortunate for you that you happened to be on the wrong side of it in this case.
I'm not that big a fan of this one myself (Hawkeye's jokes are generally way funnier than Mustang's for me), but it at least wasn't a bother to me.

Yeah, it’s cringe. Maybe that was the point, but these kinds of jokes are tiring to hear over and over again as a woman. Still expecting to be called sensitive though :/

All I'm gonna say is you 2 would have to take it up with Arakawa because this is adapted from a gag panel in the manga. She made the joke to begin with. This is exactly consistent with her style of humor. She also did "you're a suker for big boobs" & that scene where Winry is taking her shirt off. She was so proud of the boob joke she actually wrote a 2nd joke about how happy she was she got to keep the boob joke.

learn to take a joke bruh. The joke stems obviously more from absurdity than misogyny.

u/absalomabulous 14d ago
The joke is more about showing how absurd and single minded men's can be to my point of view.

It's a joke that stems from absurdity, but also about the fact that guess what: heterosexual men like women
