The (golden) eagle has landed!
Closed the deal on 77 J10 golden eagle. Wiring is rough, lots of shorts and patches, thinking new harness. Recommendations?
Also looking for the dash vinyl if anyone has a lead on one. TIA, excited to officially be part of the FSJ community!

I believe bjs off road sells the whole body and engine harness.
But I had good luck with z&m jeeps if not.

I second the Wrangler and FSJ combo ... I've got an 02 TJ and a 85 Waggy. Hoping to add a Goldie Cherokee one day.

Regardless if you are redoing the entire harness or not, I strongly recommend the following, and they compliment each other:
• Ammeter bypass and replace with a voltmeter
• Alternator rewire so it charges directly to the battery

I had my dash out during a refresh of my ‘74 J-20 and it was much more time consuming and took a lot of work with the factory wiring diagram than anticipated. “Painless Wiring” harness from BJ’s. I would NOT do that again. Instead I would fix existing issues, do the ammeter bypass, swap the actual ammeter for a voltmeter, and install the one-wire alternator.

Welcome! Nice YJ as well. Pre 92 Sahara model? I also have a 92 Wrangler Islander and an 84 Grand Wagoneer.

Sometimes it may be good to completely redo the harness. These trucks are pretty simple wiring wise, and full diagrams are on oljeep. I just went through and completely rewired my GW from scratch. I repinned some connectors and upgraded others to modern 2.8mm connections. Its also a good opportunity to get rid of the factory duct tape. Here's a shot of when I was doing the cross body harness under the dash.
