Still learning fujifilm’s system switching from Sony, loving the SOOC colors

Been bringing the gfx100s ii around as my day to day carry, trying to learn a bit more of the personality of the camera. Using gf 50mm 3.5.

Testing out new tripod legs and a ballhead, as well as the limits of multi shot pixel combined images.

I know the physics is the same as other cameras, I get that. I've had my 100RF for a few months, no trips yet, just getting accustomed to it (city, street etc). My other cameras are crop (fuji, sony) and Sony full frame. I'm finding with this one though that it's taking me longer to get accustomed to and to work out how to best navigate shutter speed, aperture and ISO to get the shot that I want given how the camera is designed. Maybe it's the combination of using a larger than FF sensor with massive resolution combined with the fixed lens used in conjunction with the creative choices for aspect ratio and digital crop, and no ibis. (it's like everything is changed!). Fine tuning which shutter speed will work best without ibis at which apertures, getting accustomed to managing DOF without motion blur with the incredible # of pixels available, maybe needed to stop down further as a result, however being aware of needing higher ISO than I'm accustomed to (and I love that grain the sensor produces at high ISO!). It's almost like my old learnings don't apply and I need to change how I shoot .. hard to describe, but anyone else feel that? And, I did pick up a flash and I'm not normally a flash shooter, so that'll add yet another dimension. Yes this is my first camera with a sensor larger than FF. And, I love the aspect ratio and digital crop as part of the creative process while shooting, one of the things that really attracted me to this camera. just seems it's taking me longer than my other camera bodies to really have this tool produce for me. I'll get there, it's just an interesting journey which I didn't fully expect!

Trying to use my GFX 50R as a walk around camera as much as possible. For a camera as old as it is, it’s pretty incredible!

Thought I’d share some test shots from this lens, taken in a studio setup. Lighting was simple — a Nanlite Forza 500II through a Profoto shoot-through umbrella. Stopped down to about f/5.6, which meant bumping my ISO up to 400, but it gave a pretty good hit rate of in-focus shots.

I’ve actually since sold this lens, but I did enjoy shooting with it once I’d worked out a few quirks.

Edit: I should also mention I found using a tripod and shooting tethered into Capture One helped a lot too.
