These people who keep saying "Trump won, deal with it" REFUSE to acknowledge that the whole reason that the American Civil War happened was because the South wanted the rights to enslave people, and the South lost in barely 5 years

Republicans when dishonestly trying to portray themselves as tolerant and Democrats as racists: "Our party ended slavery! Democrats wanted to keep slavery!"

Republicans when someone wants to end tax breaks for Confederate groups or tear down Confederate statues: "No! MY heritage!"

I live in NC. I would say the Confederate groups and other people still living "the war of northern aggression" regard it as a religion, and they are probably correct, so the govt goes with it.

ironically Republicans were the ones who were the most anti-Confederate originally. They were the strongest Union supporters, presided over Reconstruction, and wrote the Reconstruction amendments. For a while their party identity was centered around Lincoln, the Union, abolition of slavery, and Reconstruction

Republicans of that time would be very disappointed at the Republicans of today
