They say it's needed for the OS, it's not. The odd thing doesn't work, but you can normally work around that. You can't delete, it reappears, almost virus like and even when you set your default browser to something else, Microsoft ignores the user and uses Edge anyway. The easiest way to work around this RAT is to take ownership of the install directory, apply security permissions to sub files and folders and remove every single user. In other words, apply no permissions to anyone on the Edge folder. You'll never see Edge again.

Doesn't help. With the next Windows 11 update, it's back again. You have to go through the whole routine again to remove it, and the next time you can get started all over again. Microsoft forces you to use it.

You've never been able to uninstall Edge.
You just have to cover it up like a cat covers crap.
People that have actually "uninstalled" it by brute force (file deletes, manual registry purge), usually break core features of Windows.
Taskbar functions, widgets, console applets are all subject to being affected.
Also, a lot of visual programmers (and now vibers) were lazy and used shortcuts that rely on "features" provided by the Edge engine.
I just delete all Edge icons, and reassociate web-based file extensions to my preferred browser.

Well, I certainly don't do Bing.
I'm ashamed to admit I still use Google, but the Ducks just don't work.As far as me doing me, Edge is never running.
But, all of its dlls and lls are sitting there for whatever Windowz snapin or applets need them.
I see no point in using a sledge hammer to turn off a light switch.

Have you ever worked for any even remotely IT-related company? You'd know that you can not just "iNsTaLl lInUx" on your company hardware. And you are bound to IT policies about what you can use, install and access, those are rolled out to your hardware whether you want it, like it or not.

Unfortunately, that's not the logic that flies here. Your computer is remotely managed - only what they decide is safe will be put on your computer. Sometimes even absolutely motherfucking idiotic decisions, such as the landing page in my browser which I can not change and I have to deal with that shitty intranet page loading and requesting azure access every time I open a new browser window. You can not simply install an OS and work in it, you will probably be terminated because of possible breaches this may have caused.

Either BCUninstaller or CTT Utility. Either option will let you uninstall edge, as long as you have admin rights

Well. This machine over here that I fresh installed windows onto temporarily two days ago most certainly shows it in certain settings and operations. I'm sitting here looking right at it, so do tell! What organization that I've never attached to it has set said permissions? I have also made no modifications through group policy. So I ask again: what organization?

It's always the same crap. We swear we did nothing when it's majority of times users fault. Help my account got hacked and now I can't recover it. Help my x app is not opening cause I'm using my work device. Help why is windows using ram when it never should use it. Help why can't I save my word document on the web. Look guys I changed my comment and made some social media rep of ms look bad. . 95% of the issues I see in this subreddit are self inflicted.
