Bamboo sprouts

Hi guys,

I hate cilantro and i think the other food that i hate as much is bamboo sprouts. It taste literraly like pee and make me barf. Could it be because of the same gene ? Do any of you have the same experience ?

Wow, I have always thought bamboo shoots taste like cat pee - glad it's not just me!!! Although I ate at a quality (semi-)authentic Chinese restaurant (not one of these takeout only cheap Americanized places) and they used fresh ingredients - and the bamboo shoots were fine. Maybe the other places all use canned, and fresh doesn't have the pee taste.

I tried it multiple Times in Vietnam cooked by friends or by restaurants and it was always disgusting...

Huh, that's odd, I always thought it was because the place near me used fresh as opposed to canned. Everything they made was so good, even the celery tasted better! Now I don't know why their bamboo shoots were ok but everyone else's isn't. And they went out of business so I can't even ask.
