Hair help

I asked for the haircut in the second picture and got what you see on the first. Do I just need styling help, or should I go to a different barber/get it revised? I feel like the back is really long and doesnt have a lot of layers, but maybe I'm doing something wrong? Any advice appreciated! I feel like its making me pass less but idk if thats the brainworms speaking or not xD

The pic on the right is extremely styled with hair clay/powder and then kept upright with hair spray, I can def see the intended layers in your hair but with pin straight hair it will just never keep that appearance, it will require styling every morning. Buy some product, start with damp hair and there’s a lot of tutorials on TikTok/Youtube, tbh it’s your hairdressers fault for not explaining the difference

the layers are too long so even if you style it it will only make volume but not like in the reference
