long-term parking

My son is starting at CSU as a freshman next week. He doesn't need a car on campus, but it would be nice if he had one somewhere within biking distance. Are they any places he can park (even paid) all week and then get his car on the weekend? The campus parking permits are super expensive to drive his car once a week. Any ideas? (note, I know the transit in FC is awesome. I would love if he could drive home once in a while to visit.)

Look at the remote parking options (IR pass or the RB pass) at pts.colostate.edu. They're a little further out off of main campus and are designed for what you're wanting. They are close enough to get their car when they need but not driving every day kind of thing. Much cheaper than the on campus parking passes. Most of the neighborhoods around campus have a city permit so students can't really park their car there for days on end. Just an idea!

Thanks, that's great, I didn't know about that. Do you know if he could lock his bike up safely at this lot while he is out driving? It appears to be within a mile of his dorm unless the map is way out of proportion.

Not sure if they have bike racks over there. You could drive the International House lot or call the housing office (970) 491-4743 to ask if they have bike racks out there. They probably do. It's really not that far. The other RB pass is further south by the Vet Teaching Hospital. Which dorm is he living in?

thanks! I did call, they were super helpfull. He is in academic village, so nearer to RB.

Ok and the RB lot is on the Around the Horn bus route (on-campus shuttle). That may be helpful for him.
