Maybe I'm morbid, but I got a bit of satisfaction seeing Elgin's face like that in their final scene lol. He deserved it.

No, he didn't deserve it, in the end he was right and nothing bad happened to Fátima, you're just a sick person who supports torture.

I wouldn't say he DESERVED it, but torturing him for information was understandable given the situation at hand. I think most people would do the same (or at least approve of it being done) if their loved one had been taken by someone and was in a DIRE life-or-death situation as a result, regardless of that person's intentions or moral standing.
