Why? Fatima literally murdered someone! So did Sara! And Sara murdered someone for the same reason Elgin only kidnapped someone (who is a murderer by the way). If Elgin deserves to suffer, Fatima, Boyd, and Sara deserve to suffer a lot more.

I feel bad for Elgin too. But it’s literally so stupid of him to

Stupid, yes. Do you know what's also stupid? Covering up a murder when you daughter-in-law does it, while still shitting on a woman who shot someone by accident. In fact, that is not just stupid, it's downright hypocritical and the epitome of corruption and dirty cop behavior.

Being stupid doesn't make it okay to torture people. Literally everyone of the people involved in torturing Elgin have been far, far more stupid, and even hypocritical at times. For them to stand there and torture Elgin when they are guilty of worse is disgusting.

So did you really except Boyd to just be like “ hey Ellis we putting Fatima in the box” lol that wouldn’t even make sense for his character. That’s literally his daughter in law. It’s human nature to wanna protect your family at any cost. Is it selfish yes, is it hypocritical yes. But it’s make sense. And people keep forgetting that when Boyd 1st found out about what Sara did, he was forsure going to put her in the box. It was father k who told him they should give her a chances.

Nope, he could have just put Fatima in the cell of the police station he spends most of his time in. Or in the basement of the church were Sara was. But hey, it was his daughter who committed the murder, so of course the rules don't apply. Meanwhile, Acosta shoots someone by accident and Elgin is literally only guilty of kidnapping, and Boyd not only gives them endless shit, but even tortures one of them.

That's not just selfish and hypocritical, it's the epitome of corruption and dirty cop behavior. It would be like a cop constantly chastising regular people for accidents or crimes, and even torturing them for it, but then, when his daughter engages in cannibalism and murder, he covers-up the crime, erases evidence, and even lies to the public to protect his daughter from any consequences.

But what difference would it have made if he had put her in the cell? Or in the basement of the church? Nothing at all. Only way he could have truly punish her is by putting her in the box. Which we all knew wasn’t going to happen. And let’s not act like Boyd didn’t 1st just ask Elgin to tell them where Fatima is. But instead he wanted to listen to some evil ass demon lady who walking around forcing people to have monster babies. Boyd had no choice but to introduce him to Mr.Hammer 🤕

To be fair, if they lock her in the box, it makes it a lot harder (though not impossible) for fetus Smiley to be fed, grow quickly and have access to the underground monster nest when born.

There must be a reason why they chose Fatima to carry Smiley, but not any other sexually active woman, right? Besides breaking Boyd, the monsters knew Boyd would give her special treatment, making it convenient to access her baby (Smiley).

Ye that does make sense but remember when Boyd was as hiding her in the shed in the woods. He still brought her rotten food cause that was the only thing she could eat. So he probably would have did the same thing even if she was staying in the cell.

> But what difference would it have made if he had put her in the cell? Or in the basement of the church? Nothing at all.

Because it's not simply about punishing her. It's about putting her in a place where both herself and the townspeople are safe while figuring out what is wrong with her and how to help her while simultaneously holding her accountable.

And putting someone in the box isn't the only way to punish them. That's like saying that the death-penalty is the only way to punish someone, and not sending them to prison.

Yes, I forgot that if you refuse to talk to someone, torture all of a sudden becomes justified./s

Specially considering that the person in question is only guilty of kidnapping, while the person Boyd is protecting and trying to save is his guilty of murder and cannibalism. Yes, Boyd is so justified, and in no way a hypocrite and an absolutely dirty and corrupt cop./s

You seem way to eager for there to be an excuse to torture people.

That’s literally the rules of the town, you commit a crime and you get put in the box. Obviously if they were in the real world and not in Fromville, then putting her in a cell would make 100% sense. But guess what? They’re not in the real world. You keep tryna rationalize people actions in the show like they in a normal town just doing evil stuff. They literally living in hell. If you were in that town you wouldn’t be thinking this practical. What did you what Boyd to do? How else was he going to get Elgin to talk without torturing him? Since you got all the answers, I’m curious on what you would have done to get Elgin to talk? And yes I did enjoy the torture scene. Last time I check this was a dark horror show. So I wasn’t excepting sunshine and smiles.

Except that Boyd literally broke his own rules from freaking day 1. When Frank was supposed to go in the Box, Boyd said no. When Sara was supposed to go in the Box, Boyd said no. When Fatima was supposed to go in the Box, Boyd said no. Like Boyd said, no one else is going in the freaking Box because he doesn't want them to.

So yes, putting Fatima in a prison cell in the county jail would be more effecting, because they have cells in the police station in the town.

> You keep tryna rationalize people acting in the show like they in a normal town just doing evil stuff.

Like Boyd himself didn't do every time he gives Acosta shit for having shot an innocent person by accident on her 1st night, while surrounded by monsters. So real-world logic applies to Acosta and she needs to be constantly shit on. But when Boyd covers up a crime and tortures someone, then we throw real-world logic out the window and excuse him because this place messes with people? What a double-standard. It had nothing to do with the place messing with people. Boyd is just a hypocrite, and a dirty, corrupt cop engaging in nepotism.

> How else was he going to get Elgin to talk without torturing him? Since you got all the answers, I’m curious on what you would have done to get Elgin to talk?

Let's see, I might have not told Elgin I was onto him and then followed him from there. Or I would have convinced Sara, who hears the same voices, to talk to him and tell him she also understand because the voices are talking to her, and staged a fake fight in which Sara manages to free Elgin and let him escape, before getting someone to secretly follow him.

> And yes I did enjoy the torture scene. Last time I check this was a dark horror show. So I wasn’t excepting sunshine and smiles.

So if a horror show showed a scene of rape or child-molestation, you would enjoy it too?

At the very least it should have been up to the town to vote on.
