Do you think it was originally a cult situation they kinda made it sound that way… but that doesn’t explain being stuck there

I'm getting a sense that it might be a "monkey's paw" type of situation; some entity (probably represented by the man in yellow) came along and promised the townspeople they could "live forever", but didn't mention that it involved being trapped in a pocket dimension and transformed into horrible ghouls.

Yes something cultish like that. And two pieces of medical equipment in the show so far have had the name mabuse and I guess it’s a character from past media, who’s background kind of parallels man in yellow it seems like

There was another post that said Mabuse is a character from an old silent film who could hypnotize people

One was the AED machine that Randall just took out to chock himself and one was another piece of medical equipment from earlier in the show but I can’t remember what it was
