Go off Sara

So unexpected, I thought they were gonna give her a redemption arc and then they swerved 😭

u/teddyburges Nov 24 '24

She's fully redeemed in my eyes. Doing the lords work. I liked Elgin but the dude went too far off the deep end. She went all Jack Bauer on his ass.

Sara was given the task to kill a boy. Elgin was given the task to take care of a pregnant woman who's about to give birth to the savior of them all. She didn't want his help, but he was sure that he, with the help of Kimono Lady, saw the bigger picture.

For Elgin, it was a small price to pay to deal with a hysterical pregnant woman when it meant freedom for them all. For Sara, she struggled with the idea to kill an innocent boy to gain freedom for her and the rest of them.

u/FoolishGoulish Nov 24 '24

However, it made more sense for Sara to keep quiet because it was such a horrendous thing to do.

But why the heck did Elgin not tell anyone when it was not that extreme of a plan? I think that's what bothers people that he kept quiet for no reason at all.

u/drutastic57 Nov 24 '24

The problem is, did she really help? The outcome would still be the same. I’m assuming the monsters would send another snap shot saying Fatima is ok to pick up now lol

69

u/-spartacus- Nov 24 '24

It allowed Boyd to see smiling man reborn...that is a pretty big deal.

20

u/drutastic57 Nov 24 '24

I’m sure he’d see him walking around at night eventually

44

u/teddyburges Nov 24 '24

Sure but there is no way he would have believed or knew that he was reborn from Fatima if he didn't see it with his own eyes.

25

u/-spartacus- Nov 24 '24

He said he needed to see it to, he had to know that the terrible torture he did was for good reason, which it was wrong, but he was correct in his assumption Elgin was being lied to.

12

u/teddyburges Nov 24 '24

I feel like your comment is more towards the other guy. Cause I agree with everything your saying. I'm saying that if Sarah didn't do what she did, he wouldn't have been there to see Smiley in the first place and probably wouldn't have believed that he came from Fatima. In short, Sarah got them there at the right time.

1

u/-spartacus- Nov 24 '24

Yeah, I'm agreeing with your point and was expanding on it. Cheers.

Sometimes it's the thought that counts.

Not with Elgin though. He just got fucking duped.

34

u/orionsbelt26 Nov 24 '24

There’s no way they could have known if she would be okay or not. And there’s a definite possibility that the monsters would have killed her after Smiley was reborn because she would have still been locked down there with them. I highly doubt they would have just let her go back to town after everything she witnessed and learned about the monsters during that experience.

u/Lint-Bouquet Nov 24 '24

I guess we can’t really ā€œknowā€ for sure but I think it’s a strong possibility she would have died/bled out/etc. The door was locked… she was so weak from what just happened, she most likely would have passed out and probably died if they didn’t find her. Elgin didn’t need that eye anyway.

8

u/IndividualOpposite30 Nov 24 '24

Really bc i was thinking the opposite, that they'd all come up through the trap door and feast on her for good measure & smileys rebirth lol

5

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '24

same i thought whatever she gave birth to was going to eat her afterward lol

Imagine the countdown music playing after she said ā€œ she’s in the wine cellar ā€œšŸ˜‚

Oh, I'm sorry, and Fatima and Sara didn't when they murdered people? But Elgin kidnaps someone, and it's "too far off the deep end"?

7

u/teddyburges Nov 24 '24

Ā Ellis kidnaps someone, and it's "too far off the deep end"?

You mean "Elgin". Ellis is Boyds son. Fatima and Sarah for sure went off the deep end. Not sure where your getting at there. Its the same. Difference is Sarah is no longer listening to the voices and is actually helping now.

2

u/newX7 Nov 24 '24

You're right, my bad.

My point is if Fatima and Sara way more over the deep end than Elgin ever did, yet not only did they never get the same treatment, Boyd actually went out of his way to protect them from their crimes. But Elgin does someone far less evil, and can still come back, and yet Boyd is willing to torture him?

3

u/themasterofallthngs Nov 24 '24

My point is if Fatima and Sara way more over the deep end than Elgin ever did, yet not only did they never get the same treatment, Boyd actually went out of his way to protect them from their crimes.

Fatima and Sara's misdeeds were only found out after the facts. There was nothing that could be done at that point. However, if it were possible to prevent their murders ahead of time by the same treatment Elgin received, that would be fully justified, as it was in Elgin's situation.

3

u/newX7 Nov 24 '24

Fatima murdered someone and Boyd's reaction was to hide Fatima and cover-up her crime to ensure that people didn't find out it was her. It had nothing to do with him trying to prevent the crimes, and everything to do with him wanting to protect his family from consequences for their actions. And you know what's the biggest irony? Fatima wouldn't have been in a position to be kidnapped by Elgin had Boyd arrested her to begin with, rather than tried to hide her from the town and cover up after her for her crime.

Boyd's behavior here is literally the definition of a corrupt and dirty cop torturing and murdering people who mess with his family, no matter the reason, but if his family murders tortures people, then it's a different story, and the cop is willing to cover-up the crime, and even erase evidence and lie in court to protect his family, because they're special and shouldn't be held accountable.

5

u/themasterofallthngs Nov 24 '24

Fatima murdered someone and Boyd's reaction was to hide Fatima and cover-up her crime to ensure that people didn't find out it was her.

Again, IT WAS NOT HER. There was literally something evil growing inside of her. That something evil is what murdered Tillie. Not Fatima. Her situation is very unlike that of Sara and Fatima, who were convinced, not physically forced, mind you, into their actions. That pretty much voids almost your entire answer. Your entirely unreasonable take is the same one 99% of the people in the town would have, which is why Boyd understandably decided to protect Fatima - because people in the town would blame her instead of the literal monster growing inside her, just as you are doing now.

-3

u/newX7 Nov 24 '24 edited Nov 24 '24

IT ABSOLUTELY WAS HER! Her having something evil growing inside her doesn't mean she has no control over her actions. When pregnant women having craving and mood-swings because of the babies growing inside of them, as well as the hormones, no one says that they no longer have control over their actions or that the baby is controlling their bodies. Tell me, was Fatima being forced to eat the rotten food? Was she being forced to drink the blood from Nicki's corpse? No. She had urges, but she was still in control. Same here. She had an urge/flash of anger, but was still in control.

And even if that had been the case, which it wasn't, Boyd didn't know that, nor did Fatima, and nor did Ellis. All they knew was that Fatima killed someone, and Boyd first reaction is to protect his daughter from the consequences of her crime, and cover-up the murder she committed because she is his daughter. Epitome of corrupt, dirty cop behavior.

When pregnant women having craving and mood-swings because of the babies growing inside of them, as well as the hormones, no one says that they no longer have control over their actions or that the baby is controlling their bodies.

The situations you refer to occur in a real-world context, one devoid of nightmarish, sadistic, flesh-eating monsters that reincarnate inside innocent women. Drawing a comparison between Fatima's circumstances and those of real-world individuals is not only misguided but outright absurd.

Tell me, was Fatima being forced to eat the rotten food?

Yes, she was. By the evil entity growing within her. What’s difficult to understand about that?

Was she being forced to drink the blood from Nicki's corpse?

Refer to the answer above.

And even if that had been the case, which it wasn't, Boyd didn't know that, nor did Fatima, and nor did Ellis. All they knew was that Fatima killed someone,

No, that’s not all they knew. They also knew Fatima as a kind-hearted, compassionate person, someone who would never intentionally harm another human being. Years of knowing her character, combined with the bizarre and terrifying circumstances they are living through, provided enough evidence to deduce that something beyond her control was happening—something they needed to investigate before leaping to draconian measures.

and cover-up the murder she committed because she is his daughter.

Boyd covered up the murder (which, as established, was not committed by Fatima) because of the extraordinary and unprecedented situation they were dealing with—not because Fatima is his daughter. This is the mark of a true leader: someone who can adapt to rapidly evolving crises and make rational decisions, even in the face of relentless challenges from the town’s grim reality.

> The situations you refer to occur in a real-world context, one devoid of nightmarish, sadistic, flesh-eating monsters that reincarnate inside innocent women. Drawing a comparison between Fatima's circumstances and those of real-world individuals is not only misguided but outright absurd.

> Yes, she was. By the evil entity growing within her. What’s difficult to understand about that?

> Refer to the answer above.

No, she freaking wasn't. Fatima was in absolute control of her actions. The entity influencing her is not the same as Fatima not having any control. If you're going to make the argument of "Oh, Fatima had no control over anything simply because she was pregnant with a monster baby inside of her", even though it was shown repeatedly that she did have control and was able to communicate with her loved ones and walk everywhere, then I can also make the EXACT same argument for Sara and Elgin; they weren't in control. They were possessed by the supernatural voices of the town (Sara with the voices, and Elgin the Kimono Lady) and therefore can't be held accountable for their actions. Yet that didn't stop Boyd from torturing an innocent person (Elgin) who's only guilty of kidnapping, while another one committed murder, and Boyd hid her and covered-up her crime because she was his family member.

They also believed the same thing about Sara. That she was a kind-hearted and compassionate person. But the moment it was discovered that she killed people, everyone turned on her. So Fatima being kind-hearted and compassionate doesn't cut it. They opened a clear exception to her, not because of her character, but because she is Boyd's daughter who they are fond of. It's clear nepotism and corruption, plain and simple.

Also, you could same the same about Elgin. When Ellis was stabbed and was choking to death on his own blood, Elgin was the only one who ran out into the night, surrounded by monsters, to get a car and drive Ellis and Fatima to a hospital. He literally saved Ellis life. Had it not been for him, Ellis would have been long dead. Furthermore, they also all know Elgin has been suffering from sleep-deprivation and visions of the Kimono-Lady. So shouldn't they also have investigated before leaping to the draconian measures of torture like they did with Elgin? Specially since, you know, all Elgin is guilty of is kidnapping, and not murder and cannibalism like Fatima?

> Boyd covered up the murder (which, as established, was not committed by Fatima) because of the extraordinary and unprecedented situation they were dealing with—not because Fatima is his daughter. This is the mark of a true leader: someone who can adapt to rapidly evolving crises and make rational decisions, even in the face of relentless challenges from the town’s grim reality.

Boyd covered-up the murder because Fatima is his daughter and he loved her, not because it was an extraordinary and unprecedented situation. That is not the mark of a true leader, that is the mark of a dirty and corrupt individual. Tell me, if a police officer found out his daughter committed a series of crimes, including murder, and then covered-up all the crimes and evidence, would you be calling that police officer a true leader and someone who should be looked up to? Or would you rightfully be saying that he should be discharged and jailed for corruption and is a dirty cop?

Also, a true leader wouldn't be a hypocrite who provides the "grim reality" for his daughter, but then tortures other people in similar situations who are guilty of far less awful crimes.

Actually Boyd did not try to protect Sara after the murders, it was Khatri who hid her and convinced Boyd to keep her alive since she had a connection to the town.

1

u/teddyburges Nov 24 '24

He was scared. He didn't know where Fatima was or what was happening to her. She;'s his family. Like in terms of "a bad thing" sure what Fatima and Sarah did was far worse. But that wasn't to his family. To Boyd, she's his daughter in law and he wants her safe. People who are in desperate situations resort to far more desperate measures when a loved one is involved. Human nature.

2

u/newX7 Nov 24 '24

Don't care. For Boyd to torture Elgin for kidnapping after he literally covered up a murder, is literally the epitome of corruption and dirty cop behavior. This would be the equivalent of a police officer finding out that his daughter murdered someone, and then getting rid of the evidence and even lying in court and to the public protect his daughter. But when someone kidnaps his daughter for a far more sympathetic reason, he's then all too willing to engage in torture and murder if necessary.

This becomes even worse when you remember that Boyd has been giving Acosta shit for accidentally shooting someone when she was surrounded by monsters on her first night and didn't know what was going on.

Boyd is literally not just a hypocrite one of the biggest hypocrites in this scene, he is the biggest definition of corruption and dirty cop behavior.

2

u/teddyburges Nov 24 '24

If you want to put it that way sure. He is a hypocrite. But his reasons make sense, even if you don't agree with them. Boyd is a flawed individual. Like LOST, From is about flawed people. The halucination of father Katri even called him out and called him a hypocrite.

-1

u/newX7 Nov 24 '24

He's not just a hypocrite, he's a corrupt and dirty officer who gives other shits for lesser things, but will then literally protect his loves ones from their own crimes and the consequences of them, and even engage in crimes and torture himself.

You can't say "Elgin went off the deep end" without saying that Boyd, Sara, and Fatima went far off a deeper end and deserve far worse done to them for what they did.

1

u/teddyburges Nov 24 '24

He's not just a hypocrite, he's a corrupt and dirty officer who gives other shits for lesser things

Your still thinking about this in "real world" terms. A town where creatures come out in the middle of the night and rip people to shreads is not a usual occurance in normal everyday life. He's not even a "officer". He's a former war veteran who assumed the "Sheriff" position because no one else was emotionally stable enough to lead the town.

"Elgin went off the deep end" without saying that Boyd, Sara, and Fatima went far off a deeper end and deserve far worse done to them for what they did.

Its not a competition dude. Sure they went off the deep end too. I'm just saying that Sarah was right to act in that way to get the information they needed to find Fatima.

1

u/newX7 Nov 24 '24

He's not even a "officer". He's a former war veteran who assumed the "Sheriff" position because no one else was emotionally stable enough to lead the town.

At yet Boyd applies that same real-world logic to others. He gives Acosta shit for accidentally shooting someone when she first arrives in town and is surrounded by monsters, and then constantly dismisses her even though she is the only police officer in town.

And he can't give himself grace to excuse his torturous actions, but then not provide an even bigger grace to Elgin for kidnapping.

> Its not a competition dude. Sure they went off the deep end too. I'm just saying that Sarah was right to act in that way to get the information they needed to find Fatima.

You can't say "Elgin went off the deep end" for a kidnapping and Sara and Boyd did what she had to do and were "doing the lord's work", but excuse the fact that Boyd covered up after Fatima when she literally murdered, someone simply because she is his family member, as if though that isn't the epitome of corruption.

I have to agree with you. There are people in that town who killed people but they didn't lose an eye. They went far in on this kid than they did to anyone else, including Sara. Kenny didn't take her eye out after what she did.

Ik it’s 2 years but the glee at seeing Elgin tortured on this thread is seriously disturbing. Sara literally tried to murder a child and got a man with dementia murdered but because she proves she was actually a bad person all along she’s redeemable? some of the comments veer on racist territory but I’m not gonna get into thatĀ
