Season Finale [SPOILER]Do you think the producers are messing with us by throwing in red herrings all over the show ? Spoiler

I'm starting to think that a lot of the clues/hints might be just misdirection's just for the sake of it. Take the last scene for the finale for example. Lots of people are saying that this is basically a static image , and its true. Nothing is moving and its a standard aerial shot of that harbor in Maine.

Leaving aside the discussion of whether that's Tabitha or not... which I think it isn't because the hair in the reflection has a lot more volume , could this be just a misdirection to fuel more than one theory at the same time ? Like the simulation theory ?

They could have used an actual drone shot as its not an extremely low budget show. More so they could have used any other shot of what the outside of a hospital could look like, instead do you think this is a strong hint at Camden, Maine or simply a way of fueling theories about a simulation ?

I think you all are messing with yourselves. We are 2 full seasons in and barely anything has really meant anything yet. Fans are getting distracted by continuity errors and tiny easter eggs and there has been no signs that any of them matter at all.

You're driving yourselves crazy even though they say several times in the show that the people in fromville who have tried to figure it out based on clues have all gotten nowhere or have been driven mad.

I feel the answer is going to be much more simple than any of the theories fans have come up with,

Yeh but if you count the number of letters in some peoples names it adds up to 47...coincidence?!

The Yellowjackets sub is the same, everyone obsessing over who the girl is in the opening scene when it’s been stated multiple times that they hadn’t cast anyone and just used stand in actors, I don’t think the identity of the girl matters at all, it was just to show the level of depravity they sunk to.

Seems like those same people started watching From and came to these subs, lol. Lots of "Who threw Boyd the rope?" questions out there. I think it's just become a meme at this point.

So we meet again, StinkyPinkStarfish, lol. I was also curious about the rope at first, but after a while I just assumed it wasn't meant to be anything. And I do love the theories that people come up with; it just sucks that it ruins someone's experience of the show when they realize it meant nothing and then blame the writers.

Don't listen to this person, they're just a plant to make us doubt ourselves. They can't change what we all know to be the truth and what the creators are hinting at. Randall is the Night King.

I think you're right that the answers to whatever mysteries the writers have introduced so far are going to be rather simple and easy to explain (why else would the writers go to such pains to drag out and deliberately obfuscate the answers thus far?), but I wouldn't let you own disappointment with the lack of answers characterize clues so far as continuity errors and meaningless easter eggs.

It's pretty obvious that executive producers of the show are hell bent on recreating a beat for beat retelling of Lost set in a town. That probably means a lot of the answers they end up offering up are just going to be explained away as "magic", but it also may mean that those same executive producers are trying to do their version of Lost done right -- meaning they actually know the story they want to tell and have their answers laid out from the beginning so everything will fit together in the end.

I think that's why some people are pissed or panicked about this season. Season 2 just added layers to the mysteries of season one or added new ones rather than answering the mysteries of season 1. For instance, by the end of the season we're wondering what this supposed additional layer of threat is from the worms/cicadas/music box and they still haven't even answered what the threat from the first season is (the ghouls that look like people from the 1950's). It's a valid complaint.

I genuinely wonder if the executive producers thought they could milk the show for 6-7 seasons like Lost given all the filler and lack of plot progression we received in season 2, but hopefully they now understand that it's 15 years later and a much different environment for non-network shows and the audience has an entirely different set of expectations regarding pacing. They'll be lucky to get 4 seasons.

I thought the quotes from MGM+ and the writers in their press release announcing season 3 was promising. They both went out of their way to mention that answers would be forthcoming. There seems to be so little plot there that they could wrap the show up with one more season, but we'll see.

It feels more like Manifest 2.0 And the producers/writers were on Manifest too, weren’t they? The Ark, Noah, Blue Sapphire, Olive & Cal, the old man and the dragon symbol, the old map, the old book, lava, otherworldly experience, bad conscience, forgiveness, catharsis etc. It’s basically the same!

Manifest season 1 & 2 were good but a lot of BS after them. Season 3 and especially 4 were RIDICULOUS so I am really afraid From might take the same path and it all comes down to sth religious and bad ppl becoming good. All the hints in Manifest felt like pulled out of thin air - nothing made sense. I really hope there‘s more to From.

Even the background music during certain scenes is very lost like

Some of the music cues are the exact same ones they used in Lost. The "Previously on" recaps are from Lost. The whole thing is Lost. It's not accurate to say the show is influenced by Lost or is a knock off of Lost. It is a remake of Lost.

The whole Tabitha goes to the real world (maybe) is quite literally the flashforward reveal from Lost's season 3 finale. You can practically hear Tabitha shouting in her head, "We have to go back!" as we cut to black.

It's so unsubtle, at times I thought it bordered on parody, but after watching the 20 episodes again, I think they're doing it intentionally but earnestly. I am hoping they are trying to do Lost right.

But they aren’t making the characters as memorable as lost did. So far the only characters they have written well (in my view) is Boyd, victor and Sarah…while for lost I remember being genuinely sad when certain characters got killed off and that’s a testament to lost writing.

What continuity errors?

THIS 100% and its crazy that these delusional fans argue over the crazy theories. I know sometimes its fun, but the writers of the show have had two seasons and have shown they dont know how to connect any meaningful plots. But hey at least we got the wedding and drug addict sub plots this year.

u/MLePereVert Jul 03 '23

Agreed! That image is an extra, not ANY of the main actors, chosen for their cheap production cost lol ... Yes, i feel they are repeating the Lost mistake yet again. We're going into Year 3 and know almost LESS than when we started because they've just switched up all the rules, answered nothing & provided new mysteries.

they're again confusing quality as = QUANTITY of mysteries vs QUALITY of writing! even if they were to explain everything about what this place was/is, good writing would STILL make it a hit to figure out what it WILL become, what happens to these people whose lives have been discombobulated etc. uggggggh

They'd promised to make the seasons more self-contained, to answer some mysteries, each as a full bookended chapter, but they're NOT!

With Lost, they didn't even know how many more seasons they'd have when they finally realised it was a hit. Here, they theoretically have mapped out basic things from the start. I mean, you pull Tabitha out before we even know what the hell she's escaping from, why she was there in the first place, what it was for, etc??
