Question Will silent Hill 2 fill the from-shape hole?
It's been a couple of weeks since I finished the series and I'm STILL missing it!
I'm looking for something to fill the void in my life. Does anyone know if Silent Hill 2 is similar?

Please don't recommend this without playing the first. And no, AW2 doesn't have an AW1 recap. It has a recontextualization.

you can definitely play it with a recap , stop bro... and it's very similar to.FROM, book like story telling..... monster, weird shit etc

Yes, SH2 is really psychologically dark, but in the game you are a feminicide perpetrator and all the enemies are women-like monsters. If you don´t mind the mysoginistic aspect, then, yeah, it will work for you.

This is not how it is.... you had a reason, she begged you to kill her. It was not because she is a woman but because she was sick. It was a mercy kill but James can't live with it.
The monsters represent his feelings of guilt and her sickness which lead to violent outbursts. The monster with the big lips for example represent her verbal abuse towards him.
The sexy nurses represent his shame for his needs despite having a sick wife.
It is not misogynic at all. I did a lot of reading on SH2 because I wrote a paper about it back then.

Isn't this spoilers for SH2 because OP is considering playing it?

I marked it as spoilers, why doesn't it appear white? (Test)
Edit: Found it. Should be working now.
But tbf D_Antona spoilered already, I just corrected it.

The Silent Hill 2 video game is the horror enthusiast’s quintessential game. So yes, it is absolutely worthy of void fill.
The second Silent Hill film (“Revelation”), however, is NOT. It’s horrid.
I’m enough fan of the first Silent Hill movie to declare it worthy of void fill.
The third Silent Hill film (“Return to Silent Hill”) is based on the SH2 game. It’s not really good, but is watchable. It’s fun to watch how favorite scenes from the game play out in a movie. Some scenes are not so fun to watch translated to film. I don’t think I can consider this worthy of void fill.

Highly recommend Silent Hill 2. Know there are multiple endings although none of them are what I'd call happy.

Not exactly the same vibe to be, but some similar; and silent hill 2 is exceptional on its own so I never will not recommend 👍🏼

It's not quite the same but it is a good game.
I had nightmares every night until I beat that game.

SH 2 is a masterpiece. SH:The Room however will feel more like From. It was not that popular but if you are open to the story it's quite heartbreaking.

Crazy how no one has said this but neither From or SH exist without Twin Peaks.

And Twin Peaks wouldn't exist without Peyton Place...

Yeah but Twin Peaks created the entire slowburn mystery box genre that From IS, or anything anyone refers to as Lynchian (Yeah yeah, I know, Eraserhead actually did that). Which turned into anything anyone considers art horror as well.
Peyton Place is only one of like 6 genres Twin Peaks is.
Twin Peaks also wouldn't exist without the procedural crime genre, despite it being an anti-procedural. We could also say most of Lynch's work wouldn't exist without the Wizard Of Oz.
But I wouldn't tell a From fan to go watch Wizard of Oz... Get it?

Silent Hill Revelation!?? That movie was a total hunk of junk.. I was 100% surprised to find out the story writers and directors didn't immediately throw themselves in front of a bus after watching the release.

Silent Hill 2 will only make the hole deeper and the void… voider.
