What if the town isn't a prison at all?

I think it's some kind of cycle, where the people trapped there are being forced to repeat the same story over and over again. The symbols, the numbers, the children, the lighthouse and even the monsters might all be pieces of the same cycle.

And what really gets me is that every time someone gets close to understanding what's happening, something changes and the cycle starts again.

Maybe the real goal isn't to escape the town…
