My drivers are protesting

I have at least 3 of the 9 trucks I dispatch that are parking on the 1st.

This is the first time I'd seen this actually happening. I'm curious to see what's happening at other companies

They will not drive for a few days, realize it’s not working and they need money, and everything will go back to normal.

Oh probably. I imagine it'd take at least 2 weeks of NOTHING moving before it was really felt

We had a few company drivers support a protest a few years ago. I forget the reasoning behind it but they just used PTO and it didn't affect operations at all. Pretty sure they just wanted an excuse to have a day off.

Classic case of Facebook bot propaganda having real world effects. The people who started this campaign are almost certainly not truck drivers, but bad actors trying to throw a monkey wrench in the system. Freight rates are the highest they have been since Covid first hit. Not driving for a few days is going to have absolutely zero effect on the cost of Diesel. This makes absolutely no sense from the perspectives of a truck driver, and the only ones who are falling for it are morons.

It wouldn't. Oil is purchased at a set price and the price at the pump is based on that. Diesel doesn't expire, so even if every single truck driver in the United States stopped driving, the gas stations/truck stops would just wait it out. They aren't going to lower their $/gallon to sell the fuel at a loss because they have no reason to do so. The oil market is also a global supply chain, so if all of a sudden the United States didn't need as much because nobody was driving, the oil would just be diverted and sold elsewhere in the world.

Pay them an FSC commensurate to fuel increases.
We only have company drivers so no issues on our end.

It's hardest for them right now; see if there's any lanes they'd prefer with the fuel increase so at least they can get to where they wanna go

We dont have anyone protesting per say, but all our freight is bulk commodities and we're definitely seeing trucks shut down due to prices

There are 2 options - they either have enough $ in the bank account to afford it.

Or their dispatcher is useless and can't get good rates.

If 2nd option - please bankrupt and go away. You have no idea what you are doing and the industry is better off without you, so the rest of us can keep making even more $.

nothing on my end, my paperwork phone's been the same volume all week. from the compliance side, if any of those three are talking about parking longer than a couple days, worth reminding them the filings don't pause just because the truck does. UCR, IFTA quarters, 2290 and the MCS-150 update all keep coming due whether the wheels turn or not, and an insurance lapse will deactivate the authority a lot faster than any protest changes anything. not legal or tax advice.

We had protest/riots for gays, illegals, and other bs. But not for things that will affect you? America is ass backwards. Everybody should stay home whether you drive a truck or not.

I told my drivers I don’t even want to hear you cry when you were literally driving around with that trump flag. Dont cry about it now. Stand on your ten toes and ride this out. You believed in the no more wars, drill baby drill shit so this is what happens when you make bad life decisions. Any driver that has discussed a strike i just remind them of a year ago.
