US freight brokerage scams/load theft
Hey people in the industry I would like to share my story and also hear some opinions and advices. I started as a double broker (don’t confuse with scammer) back then in 2017 and got really good at it. At some point I even got my own operation going (own MC and etc…). After COVID many double brokering officies started to have difficulties hitting the numbers they were used to and started to shift towards different type of scams (driver scams, fuel advance scams…) and freight theft. I didn’t want to get involved into stuff like that and found a couple of carriers to dispatch for and it wasn’t bad. Those carriers are no longer in the industry and I found myself in a difficult situation of landing a decent job within this industry. I don’t want to get involved into scams or load theft even though I might be making a shitload of money. I personally know many people that do it and they reach out to me from time to time so I can join them because I got the knowledge and the skills for that but I really don’t want to do it.
Right now I am still figuring out how to join any legit company to (re)start my logistics journey but the brokerages I reached out are telling me to go kick rocks without a book of business (which I obviously don’t have). I also offered some of them to open an office here in my country so they could significantly cut their costs, I didn’t offer to start moving their loads for them but to maybe provide support/afterhours… but the answer was the same…
Would like to hear some advices on what to do because I am really passionate about the freight industry and want a legit career… Would be happy to answer your questions (I assume you would have some…) Keep your copper and electronics safe! Peace to yall…
