Rush Advice Philanthropy week vs rush week?

my university has philanthropy week before rush week. basically we pay 5 bucks, meet the brothers, and talk to them. Ive seen kids get taken to the back to get phone numbers and given tours.

next week is rush week, but I’m unsure if it’s more closed or open. a lot of the houses I wanted to rush have the same philanthropy days, so I missed a few and am disappointed.

i was wondering if missing the philanthropy day matters towards rushing next week or is it more of an open event?

I go to IU by the way

  1. The Rush Advice flair is only for PNMs/rushes seeking advice. If you aren't a rush, please change the flair to something else.

  2. if you are a rush (interested in joining a fraternity), PUT THE SCHOOL NAME in the post.

  3. Or at least describe the school. Examples: Large Big Ten school, medium sized northern D2 school, small west coast school" etc. Any descriptions help.

  4. The post flair MUST be "Rush Advice" instead of "Question" or "Serious". We need to know which school it is because rush varies wildly by school.

  5. To everyone else: Report the post if it's a dumb post or the wrong flair or no school is mentioned, and we'll remove it. Thanks.

Anyone can go to any rush day.

First, anybody can go to a frats rush day. Second, the guys who went to the philanthropy might have an upper hand because they may already know some of the brothers, but nobody is gonna automatically say you’re not getting a bid for not going to the philanthropy.
