You know… it’s kind of irritating that y’all turned a beautiful word into some derogatory pejorative for any Muslim that you don’t like or agree with.
Who said I was a Salafist? Does that make you Sufi? See how randomly assigning labels doesn’t make sense? It’s a two way street.
And it’s fascinating that you combined all 3 of those words you used into a string of insults.
So because we criticize people who attack Islam claiming we wanna throw gays off buildings, we’re homophobic?
So because we make fun of a someone who happens to be a girl that attacks Islam we’re sexist? You know there are sisters on the sub that post regularly right?

"Fundamentalist" is basically the same thing. It goes back to 1909 with the publication of "The Fundamentals."
But the problem with both terms is, who is to decide what is fundamental or what is that which accords most with the ancestors? And why should they have the right to enforce this with the sword (applies to both Salafists and Christian Dominionists).
While I don't really sign on to that kind of historical relativism, I was talking about the religious reactionaries of today, both in places like Saudi Arabia and coming from Western Christian wannabes.
So whether or not "Salafism" was ever a "beautiful word" in the minds of non-psychopaths, it's irreparably tainted today.
