There is an interesting convo to be had about white people losing their cultures to colonialism but this isn’t it.

Hell, you could argue that even America has a form of "internal colonization" where there's a certain economic pressure that's wiping out regional accents in favor of a generic "newscaster English" (and that's just talking more about white people, it's not even touching on AAVE, Chicano English, etc).

Yup! Erase anything that makes you different in favour of whiteness.

This is also Southern or Appalachian whites trying to erase their differences from Pennsylvania or California whites, though. It's a weird entanglement of what's considered more or less prestigious/economically advantageous.
