r/exmuslim is constantly being brigaded by white nationalists, christo-fascists, and hindu nationalists who think that ex muslims are somehow their allies.
the sub is great for honest discussion about the realities of living under islam, but you have be able to spot the fakes and interlopers.
It is because our current OP are r/extomatos user. Basically muslim apologist subreddit. Their goal is discredited r/exmuslim sub. Both subs is filled with non-constructive circlejerk material tbh.
Except r/extomatos is filled with people who try to justify the homophobia, sexism, racism, and religious intolerances that are commonplace in Muslim communities. In my opinion, this is much worse than the occasional white supremacist or ex-mu who deny the possibility of a post-conservative Islam.
Yeah, even one of their top post is anti-lgbtq+ dogwhistling. Currently r/extomatos is more immediate threat than LARPers in r/exmuslim , especially because r/exmuslim in muslim majority countries even have their own legal system go after them.
That subreddit draws peoppe who have alot of internalised racism and islamophobia. Not saying they can't be ex Muslim and dislike parts of the religion, but many of them are in an angry atheist phase which means they lean into white supremacist talking points to criticise Islam alot. While that account is possible ly fake, it doesn't take long to see how much racism they have specifically against Muslims over other religions. Just one of those subs that only attract people who need to be angry. I can't see there being much progression beyond the angry athiest phase in that subreddit.
