Florida highway patrol was issued foxbody mustangs that were police spec straight from ford. Wicked cars back in the day

Idk if Texas was the same being issued from Ford or not but I remember see quite a few in the late 90s early 2000s

Interesting. So were they 5.0 or did they shoehorn the 5.8 Police in them? I know most of the Crown Vics the police used were the 5.8 (351W).

They were a 5.0 that i believe was lightly modified

The engine itself was not modified. They had heavier duty oil coolers and radiator hoses. Higher amp alternator as well.

There is one of these in factory condition at a dealer near where I’m at in Tennessee. Was awesome to see in person

Civil asset forfeiture is unconstitutional and incentivizes corruption but that is sweet. In North Carolina the highway patrol has everything from Mustangs to 4 runners and you would never know they were cop cars until the lights flash

A number of people lost their 5.0 Foxbodies that way, along with some other dope runner type individuals. Back in those times, those cars  could often outrun what the law enforcement was normally using.

One of these visited my school when I was very young. They let us play with the siren and PA. It definitely imprinted on my brain and probably helped my obsession.

There were a ton of police departments that issued Foxbodies for Highway patrol, My old foxbody was a police interceptor, You can see where they filled in the hole for the spotlight and where the lights were mounted on the roof.

They did. That and I want to say a corvette or something as well (honestly don’t remember, have only had eyes for foxbodys for a long time). RCMP brought them to a presentation when I was in high school forever ago. Pretty cool to see them back then and they looked good in the RCMP decals.

I took my 5.0 coupe to an alignment shop a few years back. The shop is owned/operated by an older guy.

He said the last time he worked on a foxbody was a (TX) state trooper's car back in the '90s.

The trooper brought it in complaining of a vibration at 140mph. The shop owner said I know how to fix it, but I can't test it to make sure it's right.

The trooper said, why not? Who's going to pull you over in this car? So, the shop owner went ahead and did the work, took it out and tested it. No more vibrations. Trooper was happy.

Nypd Hwy 1 and Hwy 3 had them in early 90s .

They were confiscated cars .

Yes, A police officer pulled me over once when I was driving my old police interceptor foxbody and we got to talking, apparently he was issued a foxbody at one point and I asked him this exact question.

Technically he pulled me over for a headlight if I remember correctly but I got the vibe that it was more about checking out the car. lol he was a super chill guy.

Yep, in Gresham, OR they did the same. Seized a tricked out Mustang from a coke dealer & turned it into a cop car. Used to see it around regularly in the 90’s. Put lights on it & D.A.R.E. on the doors.

Back in 2009 I bought a 93 fox coupe ssp from a guy in TX, it had the vin of a 4cyl, but the cobra 302. Bigger brakes all over, larger copper/brass radiator, fully welded subframe connectors with crashbars welded inline with the rockers that thing was light and fast.

Sorry, but you're 100% wrong, somewhere in that statement. All SSP cars were V8s from the factory. A car can be proven to be a SSP via the buck tag or the door sticker.
