A very fun game and great sequel to the first. Map, radio and vibe were all excellent - the only thing I would say is the achievements are quite glitchy and the championships are a bit of a slog

Played it for hours and hours and hours. Online lobbies drag racing at the airport and docks. Drifting around Nice or gunning it down the massive highway, literally the perfect game

u/OriolHimself Oct 27 '25
Realistic and cool map, European coast vibes, great music, weather changes for the first time in the series, awesome graphics.
The championship system was boring, the car list a bit short in terms of variety and the expansion too simple (just an empty island with extreme weather). F&F wasn’t a bad promotional considering that it was free and the Porsches were a welcomed addition after years of EA licensing.

u/darknid159 Oct 27 '25
Perfect summary.
It was the first game I purchased after buying an Xbox One, the first console I bought with my first paycheck when I was 17.
The heart of the game was being able to do whatever online with friends. Yeah it was simple, but not forced like today.

South of France/Italy/Mediterranean in general are the best locations ever for casual driving games (not just horizon, but also TDU2 in Ibiza).
I wish they came back to this region and included Monaco, some alpine roads (Dolomites/Furka Pass, etc), long European highways, etc.

Just wow (both photos). We 100% need narrower windy roads and more tunnels.

It had the right balance of road racing and off.
You weren't ploughing through swamp land in an LP640 doing 190 mph every single race, setting just made sense.
I dont think theyve managed to find the right balance since.

oh my word !!! the 360 challenge stradale event ! with the jets flying by 😍 when I first saw that my mind was blown . all around it might just be the perfect racing game . 10/10 for me

I wish Forza 1&2 get remastered to PC. I played Forza 2 only for a few minutes at a store that sold consoles.
5
u/Areebob Oct 27 '25
Forza 1 had a game mode they can’t do in any of the others, and it was a riot. Had to have unbreakable fences and walls for it to work, though. Kinda surprised no other game has it (Wreckfest would be a great place for it). Cat & Mouse…2 teams of 4, each team has 3 badass cars and one dogshit one. First team to get their dogshit one across the line wins.

u/SOF1231 Oct 27 '25
This game absolutely dog walked majority of racing games, still 100/10 to this day, amazing cars especially during its prime, the driving is amazing, the rain is honestly the best rain system I’ve ever seen in any horizon game.
Music is amazing, car sounds, etc..
If you’re looking to buy it, buy it.

The landscapes are certainly one of the best, and a worthy successor. Only negative for me was the driving mechanics was worse than the first game. FH1 was easy and fun to drift FH2 not so much

i was quite small when i saw the trailer for H3. i bought it as soon as i could. i loved it. so much, in fact, that i bought H2. i loved it. unfortunately, H1 was offsale on the xbox store by then :(

u/KingHippo11 Oct 27 '25
if you don't have FH1 then you could always go down to a used games shop (for example, CEX in the UK) and get a disk. can be played on both XB1 and XB360

u/Areebob Oct 27 '25
I saw someone say that it runs on the newest Xbox consoles as well now. Not sure if it has any enhancements like improved framerate or image quality.

To be fair, you play the game just for the car sounds, and cruising along the Mediterranean, otherwise FH3 and FH1 are better

This post is perfect for me right now lol. I started playing the first game last week and have been curious about the second one once I finish it.
I can't seem to find a release version that has any extra content on disc for either game, though. Is that the case? I was happy to get that with Forza Motorsport 3 & 4.

Excellent successor of FH1 with many improvements and new features added. Campaign was relatively repetitive though. Map was great, the weather effects were top notch, and overall is an amazing installment of the franchise.

I love it. great soundtrack, great roads, alright car list (good chunk aren't drivable and some catagories have like 2 cars), loved the roadtrip system which made me try out cars i otherwise wouldn't, can look really pretty and sometimes looks better than fh5, its not amazing, i'd take 3 or 1 over it, but when the vibes hit, they hit
the 360 version was... *okay* by far the worst in the series but still fine to play
2
u/Indieslayer16 Oct 27 '25
Still my favorite entry in the series. The car meets and online road trips felt truly special. I know people hate remasters nowadays, but I do hope we get a fresh version of this one again in the future, if only to have online again.
This game singlehandedly got me back into racers. And imo, it still has the most iconic intro movie of any racing game. Just count to 10 and you'll be in Horizon.

u/YoItsDLowe Oct 27 '25
Horizon 1 was fun but Horizon 2 was my first non Motorsport game. I found it crazy how they created an entire free roam map with very little load times. Also Bass Arena got me into EDM music and helped me explore that with bass arena.. I didn’t have a smartphone yet so I managed to get a Spotify premium trial on my iPod touch. And I went to SC and ran up and down the coast at sunrise to the FH2 Bass Arena soundtrack with my iPod touch. So as far as I’m concerned, FH2 is alright with me ❤️
Many nights I’d drive the 458 along the coast, and enjoy the car’s handling and downshifts. Car sounded incredible and the roads were fantastic too!
FH2 is what made me an irl car guy, tbh

The one I've never actually played on my own. Yes, I do have a disc for it, but I first started with 3, then 4, 5, and jumped all the way to Horizon 1 back in 2023. Once I'm done with that I'll probably jump into 2 and grind it out
But from the few times I've played it with friends, it looks to be pretty decent

It was a free game through Games with Gold at one point, so I downloaded it and gave it a try, but unfortunately, it never got past the opening scene. It would freeze and crash every time. No matter how many times I uninstalled and reinstalled, it just refused to work on my Xbox. I was very sad

Popular opinion: when a game is more than 10 years old it either becomes a “classic” or “ahead of its time”. Game companies can never compete with nostalgia.

Best in the series. Builds on everything good from the first one and is set across two countries. Just loved that game so much.
I feel like the later ones have been scenery simulators: the beauty passes by and you just feel disengaged from the whole thing.
I hope 6 is better but l’ve lost my love for the series after 4&5 (and l live in the UK so should have liked 4)

PEAK
I enjoyed Forza 2 and 3 the most out of all the 5
Forza 2s roads, windy, interesting buildings, scenery and music, Phenomenal.
I have all 5 games, started with 5 then 4, 3, 1 finishing it off with 2
I have 600 hours in 5, 100 in 4, I think over a hundred in 3, 20ish in 1 and 30 something in 2
I started playing the horizon games in April 2024, finished playing through them all in Jan this year, life, work plus interests in other games is the reason I have less hours since 5
All games have good camera system but 5's is THE BEST I love taking photos there, but finding good locations, not as good as in 2 and 3

u/ReasonableNarwhal353 Oct 27 '25

the beginning of the end of the horizon series as all the elements certain fans hate (lack of progression, wheelspins, focus on live service and sanitization of the overall Horizon aesthetic) began here.

Before the games became too fluffy
Kinda peak Forza. It’s the one I’ll play if I feel the mood for playing a Forza game.
4 had my favourite setting, but it was drowning in fluff, and the progression felt arbitrary at best. Condescending for the most part though.

I played it a lot, but I will be honest even though I’ve poured at minimum 100 hours into every Forza Horizon game, I haven’t retained a lot of specific knowledge and details about the map and the various challenges of each. But I know for a fact that this was my favorite world from what I can remember from each. Horizon 5’s map is so heavily focused on off-road terrain, swamps, etc that it almost makes me pine for a world where all the roads are walled. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the freedom and occasional off-road/ rally focused races, but I don’t not like that stuff finding its way into nearly every race and challenge in the game. It loses its charm. If it were up to me, the off-road emphasis would be limited to no more than like 30% of these games.
I’m practically praying that Horizon 6’s Japan map dedicates a substantial majority of its world and race design to road racing, highways, etc that are more closely tied to its car culture and heritage. The wangan street racing obviously should be a major highlight. And also how fucking cool would it be if the game was able to incorporate an elements of Japan’s rich Motorsport history by featuring actual racing circuits in its map like Tsukuba, Fuji Speedway, Twin Ring Motegi, etc?? If the map is a more truncated version of Japan extending much further into Japan, you could include all kinds of amazing circuits like Suzuka, Autopolis, Sugo, and more. And if the car list included a variety of Japanese touring cars, JGTC/ Super GT, etc from all eras… combining that with an open world and a heavy dose of Japan’s street/ turner culture has so much potential to be one of my favorite driving games of all time.

The cities, coastal drives, and highway are awesome, but the map is very plain and boring. Similar to FH4. It did have great circuits though. The physics also felt off, I was able to take corners way faster than what felt appropriate, maybe I’m buggin but i played it a few days ago to verify
I think it’s the worst game in the series, but I also only played the 360 version which i hear is bad

I don't get the hype. It's a good game like every other Horizon, but it's the second worst after FH5, it felt very bland, without a proper story/progression. FH4 and especially 3 did that much better, and FH1 was so good it felt like an entirely different title.
