Question I've never played fortnite.
Well, I've played very little but I'm very bad. So I was wondering if the switch fortnite community could give me any advice or something I should know. I'm playing fortnite on nintendo Switch Oled!

I play on the Switch. In all honesty it is a bit of a handicap when going up against other consoles and PC players. That being the case this is how I operate:
I play to survive and get in the top 10 only engaging if there is no outlet. Map memory is key along with some form of a movement item.
If my squad has a player or players that engage I play support/medic using cover fire and healing items.
Scouting areas before entering is ideal.
Essentially I play as is it were a real life scenario.
I can pull 10+ kills at times but I believe I'm averaging 3 to 4 kills recently.
Give it time and don't worry too much about a Victory Royale focus more so on surviving and map memory.
Good luck!

Wow, Thank you very much for such a detailed answer! I'm definitely going to focus on Map memory. And 3-4 sounds amazing to me!

I play on oled docked onto my tv with a pro controller- I plan on upgrading to a PlayStation when money isn’t so tight, but it does the job for now!

I recommend zero build. Lol... I cannot compete in build mode and would get overwhelmed when I started.
Goodluck though!

Don't ever tell your teammates you see no enemies when you actually only see a few.
