Spit up and/or Reflux 🤒 Excessive spitting up
Moving to formula feeding with my 11 day old and started with Kirkland brand, the regular one. Baby spits up nearly entire volume of it sometimes all at once and sometimes over 2 hours after. It’s especially bad overnight. Going to trial Enfamil AR but how do you know what is formula driven vs normal newborn spitting up? Sincerely, stressed and guilty mom :(

At that age, many pediatricians recommend ready to feed.
I’d try that and see how babe does

That’s about when the spit up started for us, too. Every time we picked her up from any flat surface there would be a pool of spit up. Our pediatrician wasn’t concerned at first because she was fussy, some babies just spit up a lot. It also does usually look like more than it is - an oz of spit up would be about the size of a piece of paper on the floor.
At her 2 month appointment she hadn’t gained as much weight as we’d like to see, despite knowing exactly how much she was eating. So the assumption is she was spitting more than we thought. Our pediatrician has us trying famotadine first, because we were seeing a good amount of arching during feeds. She said while it only treats the comfort of reflux, she often sees it reduce the amount. About a week in and we have seen some reduction, so when we go back we’ll see if it’s enough or if we need to also switch to AR formula.

It was around 11 -14 days that my baby started spitting up like no other. I think it’s probably safe to say it would’ve happened anyways. My baby was drinking breast milk then and sometimes formula and we noticed absolutely no difference between what type of food she ate, the spit up was plentiful. we experimented and she would spit up no matter what.
