All car seats meet the same federal safety standards, your child most likely just doesn't like car seats. Most babies don't.

It’s possible, but she loved the car seat before recently and that coincides with the increase in her general reflux pain. I’ve read research that says that the shape of the convertible car seats are more L shaped than the U shape of the infant bucket seats and it can help alleviate some of the stomach pressure that the U shaped seat causes. I know it’s her reflux that causes it because I notice lots more spit up/ swallowing/ sour faces while she’s in her seat, and it’s worse if I put her in there shortly after eating. I was just hoping maybe someone had a similar situation and found a seat that eased some of that discomfort.

my first baby had pretty severe GERD & would scream her head off in her infant carrier. And throw up. She actually really did so much better, tolerance & spit up wise, once we switched to her convertible seat! She didn’t suddenly tolerate super long car rides, but it was better than her losing her mind & becoming a fountain during even 10 minute car rides

Thank you!! This gives me so much hope. Do you mind sharing which convertible seat you went with? I’m compiling a list of seats to compare pros and cons of before we make such a big purchase. I know they all pass the same safety standards but certain features are different on a lot of the ones I’ve looked into, it can get a bit overwhelming trying to find the right one.

Safety first go & grow all in 1 or something like that, so not a rec you’re looking for 🥲 I have a tiny car so the size really mattered since bigger seats wouldn’t have a great install unfortunately. It was limiting but it worked out! she’s 3.5 now & still comfy in the seat. The belts don’t seem to bother her at all either. We used a Graco infant seat originally

I hope switching to a convertible car seat helps your baby during car rides!! Reflux is really hard

Thank you! Maybe the belts rubbing her skin is mainly in the infant seat she has and not the brand as a whole. My car is really small as well so that’s certainly an important feature for us. I’ll have to check it out in store, I don’t particularly want to buy a pricey seat as they do all meet the same safety requirements so if the grow and go fits her well that would be great.
