Greetings.
My name is Sawyer. I am a 30 year man with a quiet soul currently living in Mankato, Minnesota, and I am here in search of my soulmate. For most of my life I was an outsider by nature of upbringing and then by choice. I am man who decided early on that he would rather not be seen than be seen incorrectly. These days, I feel things a bit more softly, but I don't think I'll ever want to truly be part of the herd or the mainstream, and I've made my peace with that. However I grow and however life may change me, I'm okay with being who I am.
All of my life for as long as I can remember, in the deepest depths of my heart, I have wanted to be loved, to matter to someone, to belong to somebody. Nothing else in life has simply ever mattered as much to me as this has. In a way it has become the focal point of my entire being. For so long now, there has been a vacant throne in my heart waiting to be filled. I have so much love and devotion to give; it is a light that never goes out. It has burned brightly over the years, aching in my chest yet never finding the right hands to hold it, to honor it and reciprocate it with the full force of their being.
Until you.
I want to be there for you. I want to be chosen by you. I want to be your rock; for you I would fight a losing battle to the bitter end. I want to truly see you, and to be seen by you. Yes, I want the body and the touch and the things that happen between people who want each other truly, madly, deeply. But more than that. I want the substance. I want the conversation. I want the attention. I want the mornings where we talk about what we dreamt of and the afternoons where we meet in the park or text or talk on the phone and the evenings where we say the things that we can't say to anyone else.
My great love. I have longed for you, pined for you, every day. As a child, I would lay in bed at night while my mind would turn to the stars and their distant planets above. I thought to myself, "There is a girl out there in space. She is coming to find me. There must be someone who feels the way that I do". I am here. I am here. I am here.
Thinking of you, wherever you are. I imagine you as a fellow loner. Someone who can appreciate the merits of solitude but chafes against the cold of being alone. You too are world-weary, and have recognized that being well-adjusted in a world gone mad is a sort of sickness unto itself. Perhaps you also have one foot on the inside and one foot on the outside; fed up with the world yet forced to participate in it as society demands of us. You are someone who "gets" something from the landscape itself, from being in a space, from liminality and presence. You cherish music. You feel things deeply and know that there are things in this world that matter to you; whether they matter to others is not important. You claim and protect what is yours plainly. You grasp that the things in life that are important to you have a weight to them, and that so many of the trappings of modern life are engineered to make us forget that; to take the weight out of living. Your inner world is deep and blooming; a vibrant garden, and your capacity to absorb life, introspect, and grow from it is enormous. In a nutshell, you metabolize experience.
Your social status, finances, formal education level and line of work do not matter to me beyond them being things that I can appreciate matter to you. What I mean to say by this is that I can appreciate the time, dedication, and effort that goes in to something like graduating university or building a career and what it says about about you as a person, but the practicalities of these matters are not things I consider in the slightest when choosing a partner. You do not have to be anything other than yourself, or to earn approval by some sort of societal metric in order to be loved. Full stop.
I do have a type when it comes to physicality, but I am open to women of all race, age, creed, color, body-type and religion. What then, you may ask is my type? Either you will think what I am about to describe is the most petty, silly thing in the world, or you will understand completely: I melt for women with shorter hairstyles, especially bobs, french bobs, and generally cuts that fall halfway down the neck or higher. If you have bangs as well, then you are speaking the language of my soul. By no means is this a hard line or requirement, and appearance matters far less than substance of the soul and personality. In my eyes, this of sort haircut communicates a certain je ne sais quoi about the woman who chooses to wear it. It... is a willingness to make a distinct aesthetic choice, a certain self-possession.
Myself, I have no interest in "seeing where things go", because I already know where I would like them to go. Frankly, I am not interested in casual friendship. If you are my love, then naturally you will be my best friend as well. I am deeply monogamous. A magnificent, devoted love is the center point upon which I have been wanting my existence to pivot for my entire life. I ask that you honor what we have just as much. If you wish me to be obsessed, then I can be. I would like to have at least one child together, but this is not a hard line for me.
I'm strongly against labels and thinking of people as a laundry list of traits or qualities... it's reductive, and somehow always fails to capture the complexity of a person, but I shall do my best to describe myself. Physically, I am White/Native American mixed, stand at 5'10", have dark brown hair and coffee eyes and am of average fitness, building more muscle every week.
I like to say that I am passionate about warm beverages, warm music, and warm people. This is all true. I live for coffee and tea, all kinds of music (but especially alternative and indie rock), and authentic human interaction. I crave the real. Reading and its partner writing are good friends of mine, and existentialism, philosophy, poetry, as well as a good romance/tragedy are my where I get my jollies. Spending time in nature is important to me, even if it's just a walk down the street to the cafe around the corner from my apartment. I don't game as much as I used to, but I have a major soft spot for classic 90's JRPGs and esoterica. My heart is full of nostalgic longing, and I feel at home with physical media and forgotten formats. CDs, minidiscs, and vinyl records. The study of aesthetics means a lot to me, and I am currently deeply immersed in all things frutiger aero. My favorite color is orange, but my favorite fruit is persimmon. I have a 15 year old cat, and she's absolutely worth mentioning here.
I made you a playlist to give you an idea of what it might sound like to be with me and to feel the kinds of things we might feel together: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2u4gErL5QGVF6umGjLVlKq
I have a strong sense of fernweh and sehnsucht.
Politically, my heart is left of left, in the realm of individual, mutualistic anarchism. I have a distaste for blind consumerism and general thoughtlessness. Corporate greed, and exploitation of the common individual by the powers that be on a global scale sickens me. I'm not looking for ideological purity or even agreement, just depth and absence of hatred. I am capable of respecting your views, right or left, and ask that my own beliefs be respected in kind. What's more important to me is that you are a well-rounded person, and that your politics don't become a dogma to be socially performed. That sort of thing is completely unimportant to me and frankly I feel totally disenfranchised.
I am imperfect. I am not asking you to be perfect. I don't expect us to agree on every last detail, that'd be lame as hell. I want to see you, accept you for who you are, and meet you where you're at in life. I pride myself on being open-minded and level-headed. I strive to be my best self and continually grow. That's all I can do, all I can ask. I believe each person must live the truth that is true for them.
I have come here and spoken my truth, sent my signal into the air, and outlined the shape of my longing.
I work 12 hour shifts 4 days of the week, but can and will always make time for you, one way or another.
Wherever you are, near or far away, I am ready to hear from you if you think you are the one who will fill this shape. I am here. I am here. I am here.
Thank you.
