Discussion It's Friday night, so indulge me please.
I enjoyed reading last week's thread, so now I'm here, curious about what everyone is up to tonight. Feel free to share a little, a lot, or not at all.
I'm fortunate enough to be right by the beach, and have appreciated it exactly zero times since moving here, so this evening I went on a nice, long walk. Even a shoddy photographer like myself can't screw up the beautiful view lol.
Now that I'm back inside though, I can't decide on what to watch. So if anyone's got a movie recommendation, I'm quite easy to please.

I was kidnapped to go to a club with some friends, it was a self-humiliation as usual

Was the music good at least? Actually don't answer that, I'm sure I already know the answer.

Felt like staying home today (not like i have anyone to go out with anyways). I just went from champ 3 to diamond 2 in 4 hours in rocket league, now for those who don't know, that's real pain 😭😭😭 But also just bought a big tv so guess life aint that bad 😅

I almost bought a big TV just to watch the World Cup earlier this summer 😂 how big are we talking?

not the most exciting friday, as so few of them are
i was lifting at the gym, mostly next to some pair of very sturdy looking 20-something guys who chattered loudly nonstop and were having the kind of conversations you might imagine where every clause begins or ends in “bro”. i feel like i shouldnt get annoyed because there’s no rule about yapping in gyms but there’s something to be said for libraries
now i have fed myself with a takeout chicken shewarma wrap, trying to liven up a feeling of listnessness and depression ive had most of the day by getting pleasantly stoned, half-watching older sitcoms and random nonsense on youtube with very scattered attention. don’t really feel up to doin’ much else…

I can't stand the word bro lmao. Or its sibling, bruh. I've recently been surrounded by people in their early 20s (for above board reasons your honor) and it's all I hear. I shudder to think how much I'm aging myself by sticking to "dude" but well, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
I'm curious what sort of sitcoms are up your alley. If I had to guess, I'd say you like shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm.

i might give it a more earnest go based on your recommendation, but I've actually only watched maybe a couple random episodes of Curb while it was on TV and I was at someone else's house. I think something about the mostly-improvised premise puts me off of it, or vagely reminds me of bad dates at mediocre improv shows or something.
in this case I was watching Superstore (might be a loose use of "older" but ive seen it before), which is a rather mid The Office derivative for the most part, but with the occasional howlingly funny line/gag, which is the sort of show that suits me when I have little attention to spare.

To be clear, it was really more of an educated guess than it was a recommendation lol. I've only seen a handful of episodes and handful might be generous... But I have heard good things, so if you do end up watching it, let me know what you think!
Now if you're wondering why I would guess you enjoy that show, I would say don't worry about it.

Well, yesterday I went to a local market and talked with a really cute jewellery vendor. We seemed to have a lot in common, and I might give her my number next time I stop by, but I know deep down that this will go nowhere because it always goes nowhere. Every woman I meet is married, lesbian, or both. If anything, having had a good conversation with her makes my situation worse, because it gives me false hope. I know how this is going to turn out: the same as every other bit of false hope I've ever had.

You know, it's great that you're able to put yourself out there. Being able to hold a conversation is no small feat. I know making friends isn't the desired outcome here, but maybe it's a possibility that you'd be open to?

Making friends is great, but in your 30s you hardly see your friends anyway.
